For 13-18 girls interested in STEM!... A new posting from Myela Paige (Georgia Tech) Women and METROHACKS W and Microsoft Event This is an exciting opportunity for girls 13-18 who are interested in STEM! Women In Code: MetroHacks W is MetroHacks’s third 12 hour hackathon hosted at the Microsoft Offices in Alpharetta, GA devoted to bringing more female high school students into STEM fields. During the 12 hour event, students will learn about new technology in various workshops, collaborate and create projects with each other, and compete for prizes. Girls aged 13-18 can attend. The event is completely free, and meals are provided for all participants. From what I see, adults can apply to be volunteers and mentors too (on the page at the end)! Students entering grades 9-12 in the fall 2019 are invited to apply to participate in the University of West Georgia and Air Force Association (AFA) free UWG/AFA CyberCamp. CyberCamp will take place on the UWG campus July 22nd-26th, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The camp is free to accepted participants, who must apply to the program by June 21. From CEISMC K.I.D.S. at Georgia Tech: Georgia Tech CEISMC K.I.D.S. (Kids Interested in Discovering STEAM) Club is a program designed for kids in 2nd through 5th grade who are interested in discovering and learning more about science, technology, engineering, arts and math! The K.I.D.S. Club program is broken down into 2nd & 3rd grade classes, and 4th & 5th grade classes. Each K.I.D.S. Oct 12-14 Hackathon Event in Atlanta for High School Students (competitive and requiring an application submitted by Sept 19; see details below) The TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed) is pleased to announce the 2018 Digital Student Immersion Experience (DSIE). DSIE is a weekend long program similar to a hack-a-thon where students will network with industry professionals as they create websites for nonprofits in the Atlanta community. This year the program will take place ...from October 12th - October 14th at Dragon Army in Atlanta. This program is in collaboration with the nonprofit 48in48 and funded by LexisNexis Risk Solutions to allow students to participate free of charge. We will select approximately 24 30 students to participate in this opportunity. The 2018 Digital Student Immersion Experience will provide high-achieving students with the opportunity to develop technology skills and build their portfolio, and make a significant impact on the local community. Interested students must: Be High School Students between the ages of 16 -18 Have a passion for science, technology, engineering, or math Have a strong academic record Demonstrate a level of maturity and program readiness Exhibit a strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work in teams If you are interested in participating in this amazing opportunity, please apply online at http://hireiq.ly/go/ilmdYd8h2opQ. Each day of camp will cover new topics and activities, building up to a final team competition simulating real cybersecurity situations faced by industry professionals.
