Meet our Diversity & Inclusion Chairwomen: The Diversity and Inclusion position was created because our president at the time recognized a need for our members to get educated on topics they might not have been exposed to before like racism, people with disabilities, different religions, and many other things. My favorite thing that we’ve done so far is that during Black History Month, we highlighted an African American woman every Monday at chapter. We are so excited to get ...back to Athens to continue working with all of the amazing organizations on campus! As for own personal hopes and dreams, I hope to go to law school after graduation and work in civil rights law! - @melina_dautovic As a committee we try and create short lessons to share with the chapter highlighting powerful people of color, lessons in intersectionality, white privilege, or anything someone has a question about. We were also working on organizing a sisterhood event with NPHC orgs before we were sent home, but we’re excited to get together in the fall. We’re still trying to figure it all out, how to be better leaders ourselves, how to include other voices, and be a more organized and productive body but we’re trying. Change and reform of the system were living in goes past diversity and inclusion.
