Check out the video for a virtual tour of the UGA Plant Molecular Disease Diagnostic Lab, Tifton campus; a research lab and a fee-based service lab whose primary mission is to provide advanced testing for plant pathogens across a range of crops. The MDL uses state of the art and cost efficient diagnostic methods for extension & research personnel, commercial growers & homeowners. Just another way #UGAResearch is providing #Impact to our communities. #TBT to J.L "Cowboy" Stephens who would end up making grass- breeding history. He was hired in 1927 as the very first full-time forage agronomist and by 1934 began gathering plants from all over the world. His first stop was Asia, and from there he traveled to South America and East Africa. Not long after, Stephens found what would become Tift bermudagrass growing in a cotton field near Tifton. By working alongside Dr. Glen Burton and Dr. Byron Southwell, he was able to help develop better forage varieties resulting in an increased stocking rate with cattle. #NiftyTifty #UGAResearch
