A few updates on United Way Community Partner, RossWoods Adult Day Services: RossWoods is open! We are so excited for the participants to be back at RossWoods having fun and doing activities again! RossWoods gives the adult participants meaningful care and routine activities along with providing much needed relief to the participant’s caregivers. We were able to have some of the RossWoods participants help pack activity kits for our #Powerlunch program. The kits will be dist...ributed alongside of a USDA lunch provided by Whitfield County Schools and children’s books provided but United Way! We appreciate the RossWoods participants’ help in this little project to help give kids some extra fun activities. We are also thankful for your continued support through United Way because we couldn’t do this without YOU! That’s the Power of Community! #liveunited #unitedwaynwga #unitedway #powerofcommunity #volunteer #powerlunch

Because of donations to United Way of Northwest Georgia, we have been able to not only provide quality respite care to adults who require day services, but also provide the means for a friendship to blossom. By receiving a bilingual respite caregiver, Ericka's mother (who only speaks Spanish) can have more in depth conversations and quality time spent with her respite caregiver. It's also allowed Ericka's mother to be able to take walks outside along with other activities wi...thout a language barrier. To help your neighbors, like Ericka's mom, visit the link below and #StartTodayUnited. You can make an impact. https://www.ourunitedway.org/starttodayunited-campaign
Everyone in our community deserves to live a healthy life. Thousands in our community still struggle with unemployment, food insecurity, housing, and health challenges. Many do not know where their next meal is coming from, or how they will pay the rent or the bills. Even more, families are teetering on the edge without back-up savings. Kids are struggling with an unconventional school year. Individuals are facing mental health challenges like anxiety and depression. -- We ne...ed to do more than adapt to a post-pandemic world. We need to build a better one. Thousands of people in our community devastated by the events of 2020 need your support to rebuild their lives. -- #StartTodayUnited and Give to United Way of Northwest Georgia to ensure that Community Partners, like the NWGA Family Crisis Center, can continue serving those in need within our community. Help us reach our goal of $10,000 to go towards our overall campaign of $4.125 million by December 31, 2020. You can make an impact. https://www.ourunitedway.org/civicrm/contribute/transact
Due to the pandemic, many of our Community Partners have faced unforeseen hardships. For this particular agency, they saw an increase in their client's immediate needs as a result from job loss, inability to pay fees, and increased stress and anxiety. All of these factors can cause strain on individuals' and families' mental health. Because of donations to United Way, we were able to provide the means for many of our Community Partners to receive the tools necessary to have... virtual counseling. During these times, our Community Partners are on the frontlines and addressing the ever-increasing need for mental health services.
