Lost Dog The Varnell Police Department is trying to help return a missing dog back to its owners. If you have information, please contact the police department 706-694-3141. It was pick up in the area of GA Hwy 2 and Dilbert way yesterday afternoon.

Update the horse has been returned to it's owner. The Police Department is seeking information regarding the owner of a missing horse wearing a blue blanket. The horse has been found in the village drive area. If you have any information please contact the Varnell Police Department at 706-694-3141.

UPDATE: Christopher Kitts was located after an extensive air and ground search by multiple law enforcement agencies. The fugitive engaged officers several times... with gunfire before ultimately being shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. MEDIA RELEASE: On October 18 at 1:50 pm, East Ridge Corporal Terry Prescott made a traffic stop on a red Dodge Challenger at 4000 Ringgold Road. Before Corporal Prescott could exit his vehicle, the driver got out and fired several shots at the patrol car. The suspect jumped back into his car and fled. Officers responded and stabilized Corporal Prescott until EMS arrived. Terry was transported to Erlanger Hospital. He is in stable condition. The suspect vehicle was located by Georgia State Patrol in a subdivision off Page Road in Rossville. The suspect had already fled on foot before the vehicle was located and is currently being sought by multiple law enforcement agencies in the area of Page Road and Lakeview Drive. He has been identified by in-car video and the vehicle registration as Christopher J. Kitts, W/M DOB 10/10/1977. Kitts should be considered armed and dangerous. If seen, do not approach, but please notify the East Ridge Police Department at 423-622-1725 or by calling 911.
