Vernon Woods Animal Hospital 10.11.2020

Lauren is one of our newest veterinary technicians and we are just so so lucky to have her join our team. Lauren is talented and compassionate, and we have just loved getting to know her and working with her. Thank you Lauren, for all that you do! Happy Vet Tech Week! I just moved from Texas to Georgia with my dog, Opie, and my two cats, Remus and Weeble Wobble. My background in the veterinary field has been in a nonprofit clinic doing spay/neuter and community outreach. I’m excited to be in a hospital setting and having more time to get to know my patients! I spend my time outside of work hiking and exploring my new hometown.

Myke started working in our kennel department as a veterinary assistant when he first started. He studied to become a veterinary technician through the San Juan College Veterinary Technician program, and has now been working as a veterinary technician here at Vernon Woods Animal Hospital for almost three years. We have loved watching him learn and grow. Myke has boundless humor and is always making us laugh! Thank you Myke, for all that you do. We love you as much as all the patients do! They clearly can see you have a big heart and so much to give. The patients all see you as their best friend! We appreciate you, and all that you do! "My name is Myke. I have been a technician here for almost three years. I have a Boston Terrier named Parker and a ferret named Squishy. I love hiking and the outdoors."

Cilla is another of our awesome technicians. She has been with Vernon Woods Animal Hospital since 2006, and she has helped train many of the technicians we have with us now! Her work ethic is just amazing and we all love working with her. Cilla sincerely treats every patient like family, and we are so very lucky to have her as a part of our Vernon Woods family. "Hi! I'm Priscilla, and I have been a Vet Tech at Vernon Woods since 2006. I have really enjoyed working here (Obviously). I love taking care of all the great pets we see here. I don't have any of my own so I treat them as if they were mine. On my time away from work I enjoy spending it with my beautiful family. I love the BEACH, I am also a huge VIKING fan."

As Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week continues we would love to introduce you to some of our wonderful technicians. Diane is an Illinois native who has worked at Vernon Woods Animal Hospital for over 20 years! She lives with her husband, Muffin the Shih Tzu, and two handsome and zany cats. She loves the beach, spending time with her family, and watching the Cubs. Diane says she loves all the ups and downs of this crazy job due to her overwhelming love for the animals.... We truly count on Diane every single day. Her dedication to each and every patient in her care is extraordinary. She is our head technician and truly leads by example. She has trained and continues to train so many of our technicians here at Vernon Woods Animal Hospital. We appreciate you, Diane! Thank you, for all that you do. Happy Veterinary Technician Week Diane!

For everyone that adopted pets during the "shelter-in-place" order OR thinks that they are going to have trouble getting their pet back in to a routine (going back to work etc), here is a free webinar on the subject- Post-Pandemic Pets: Tips for Transitioning Companion Animals as Shelter-In-Place Orders Are Lifted Presented by Drs. Susan Krebsbach and Nicholas Dodman... Wednesday, May 27, at 3 pm ET Many families stepped forward to foster or adopt new pets as COVID-19 spread across the US and animal shelters were forced to close their doors. These families, along with all families who already had pets in their home, have now spent nearly two months continuously together with their new, or existing companions, and are preparing for the transition as they return to work, school and other activities. Dr. Susan Krebsbach and Dr. Nicholas Dodman will discuss tips for dealing with potential separation anxiety issues as well as other transitional challenges, such as catching up on puppy socialization, changing dog walking schedules or switching cat feeding times. This presentation is FREE for all attendees. https://hsvma.zoom.us/we/register/WN_QjBqCDawSr-HkVOU_QDvlg
