Congratulations to Tyler Paul Smith for advancing to the general election for House District 18 and to Erica Tisinger for winning State Court Judge in Carroll C...ounty and Stacey Williams for pulling out Haralson County Sheriff. I know that each of you will do a genuine job in representing your constituents and I look forward to your service that no doubt will compliment our local communities. I also want to congratulate Cason Hightower for heading up a quality race, Brian Finley for putting forth a tremendous effort including his devoted career as a Carroll County Employee and to our friend Met Lane for running an incredible race that I don’t believe I have ever witnessed so much hard work poured into a local race before - he, his family & campaign gave it 110%! In closing, I would like to acknowledge as an elected official I know first hand how many hours, days, weeks & months it takes to run an effective campaign. I also know that during competitive races there are often times of contention, emotional roller coasters, events that transpire that no one expected and the sheer determination to win. As with any endeavor in life, there is seldom anything we can all agree on. However, what I believe to be true is that the overwhelming majority of people love our community and love all the attributes that make our way of life unique and special in West Georgia. There are many family and friends who vote differently in elections and sometimes even families that are friends who compete for the same elected position. My hope and prayer is that these families and friends who know each other best are able to congratulate our winners and begin to heal from some of the natural bumps in the road that happen as we put campaigning behind us and embrace each other united with support as Governing begins. Thanks to each of you who have put yourself forward for an opportunity to become public servants regardless of the outcomes, that alone shows character and passion to serve your fellow mankind that no one can take away from any of you! I look forward to supporting each of our newly elected officials and working with them to make Carroll County a better home where we all live, work & play. I also am endeared to embrace stronger friendships that will last a lifetime with families I have gotten to know even better along the way such as the Lanes. Let’s embrace each other for the greater cause that we care about the future for all the generations to come that we might work to leave our community better than we found it as we persevere. I have met and traveled throughout our entire county. It is truly beautiful with breathtaking landscapes, towns, homes and farms. It has been awesome to meet so many, many wonderful people. My supporters and I have knocked on over 2,700 doors since June 9th. I thank you for your time, your encouragement and your kindness to me, my family and supporters as we have come to see you. During this time we have received vegetables and fruit, honey, plaques and other treasures from you. Thank you. I was born and raised in Carroll County. I’m so proud to call Carroll County my home. I have practice law for 18 consecutive years in Carroll County. My wife, Corbett, and I have been married for 17 years and have three children who all attend Carrollton city schools. I am a conservative and a Christian. My parents instilled in me a desire for public service all of my life. And what public service means to me is to make a difference in the lives of individuals. I became a lawyer to make a difference in people’s lives. Thus far I have had the privilege to serve as a Carroll County Assistant District Attorney, to serve on Carrollton’s City Council and as a lawyer for over 18 years in Carroll County providing my legal expertise in helping others in need. Our State Court is a criminal court. While there are some civil cases filed in state court, over 90% of the caseload is criminal/traffic cases. In 2019, there were more than 10,000 criminal and traffic cases filed in our State Court. Due to the large volume of criminal cases, I know you will agree with me that our county deserves a judge who has experience both as a prosecutor and criminal defense attorney. I have that experience. My opponent does not. This in no way negates my opponent’s abilities in other areas. But not as State Court Judge where I, alone, have had cases in our Carroll County State Court system thus making me the only true qualified candidate for this office. I am, to the very best of my ability, unreservedly fair, totally honest, most caring and passionate for equality under the law for all of our citizens. My zeal for truth is uncompromisable. If you elect me, I pledge to hold violent defendants responsible for their crimes, but when warranted, I will show compassion to non-violent offenders. I will work to create a local veterans court and a DUI court because there is a great need. As a conservative, I believe in judicial restraint. I support the Constitution of the state of Georgia as enacted by you the people. Serving Carroll County as our next State Court Judge would allow me to continue my passion of giving something back to our community and making a real positive difference in peoples’ lives. You see, nothing is more satisfying to me than making a real difference in someone else’s life. More than anything else that is why I desire to be your judge. For these reasons I humbly ask for your vote on August 11 th .
