U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walter F George Lake 25.02.2021

Don’t let the title of this news release scare you! Walter F. George has already been encouraging mask use and social distancing in our parks, and working to provide our visitors with safe, outdoor recreation opportunities. Hope to see you out on the lake!

Please read carefully. The Walter F. George site office is in need of contract gate attendants. These are the requirements. Must be a pair of individuals, (2 people), must own a camper, and must live on site. If you do not meet all three of these requirements do not apply. We have 4 positions, 2 at Bluff Creek Campground and 2 at Hardridge Creek Campground. To bid for these parks please contact Anthony Strickland or Nick Graham @ 229-768-2516. Again if you do not meet the above listed requirements no need to apply. Applications will NOT be looked at on Facebook.

UPDATE ON DAY USE/BOAT RAMP FEES: The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walter F. George Lake Resource Management Office will start collecting ALL day use/boat ramp user fees starting October, 2nd 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers suspended the collection of user fees. Once user fees are reestablished on October 2nd, Park Rangers will again start enforcing the use of day use/boat ramp fees. Previously we were only opening two day use areas to re...sume collection of day use/boat ramp fees however, we are now reinstating all day use/boat ramps on the Walter F. George Lake project. So make sure you pick up your envelope at the pay stations place your $5.00 inside and hang the tag on your rear view mirror with the correct day punched out. Failure to do so could result in a written warning or monetary citation and always remember to wear your life jacket in and around the water. See more

When you think about it, putting on a life jacket during a boating accident is as impossible as putting on a seat belt during a car accident so #PleaseWearIt. Thanks to Jeff Burdick, from Lorain, OH, for sharing his reason for always wearing a life jacket.

You might not intend to fall overboard, but it can happen in seconds. Wearing your life jacket is like insurance that helps you live to enjoy your loved ones and helps guarantee that they don’t see you drown. #LifeJacketsWornNobodyMourns
