MONDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: Confidence is growing in the timing, impacts and expectations for Michael in Middle Georgia. TIMING: We think the greatest impacts will... be Wednesday night into Thursday morning. IMPACTS: We think most of Middle Georgia could see wind gusts in excess of 40 mph. It appears areas south and southeast of Macon will see wind gusts approaching 60 mph, if not higher at times. This will be enough to cause downed trees and power lines and power outages. Rain will add up to several inches. Embedded tornadoes can't be ruled out. TO DO LIST: Storm preps should be underway as we expect impacts in 48 hours. Don't panic, but make sure you are ready for the chance of a multi-day power failure similar to what Irma caused in 2017. Think back about what didn't work in Irma and find a solution. IMPORTANT: Michael may be a repeat of Irma, but in different places that were hardest hit during Irma. Everyone should prepare. Subtle changes in the track will determine where the worst of the impacts will be. Those changes are on such a small scale that we won't know until it happens.
