I read this on the internet (so it has to be true): If you wore glasses that flipped images upside down, your brain would eventually correct your vision, and you’d see things the right way up. While this might be very true, I'm not willing to prove its accuracy. Any takers?

Migratory birds use their eyes to "see" magnetic fields, allowing them to navigate their long journeys with accuracy.

Chickens see more colors than humans. Their retinas are responsive to ultraviolet light, which makes then able to detect a color spectrum beyond the range to which humans are sensitive. But still... fried chicken... am I right?

a pretty good digital camera will take 25-30 megapixel photos. the human eye, in digital camera terms, is 576 megapixels. remember - with that level of detail - you can't unsee some things!

Glaucoma, retinal tears and detachments, macular degeneration, and cataracts are only some of the eye diseases which are more easily detected during a dilated eye exam, but did you know that other conditions can also be discovered? Diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, high cholesterol, thyroid conditions, cancer, and tumors are among the many other problems that a thorough eye exam can reveal.

A vision screening is not a comprehensive eye exam. Screenings usually take only a few moments and are commonly administered by individuals without formal professional training. Usually, vision screenings are little more than a measurement of your visual acuity, which is simply a description of the smallest letters you can read on a chart across the room. Screenings are generally designed to test only for visual acuity which doesn't meet a certain standard, detecting significant vision problems, but failing to identify more subtle issues which can be signs of other very serious conditions. Regularly keeping up with annual eye exams is vitally important to maintaining not only good vision, but also good general health. Schedule your eye exam today!

Each of your eyes has a blind spot which results from an interruption of the retina where the optic nerve connects to the eye. You don't normally perceive them, however, because each eye's blind spot is filled in by visual information from the other eye. The brain also "fills in" the spaces using the brightness, colors, and textures surrounding them. What an incredible marvel of the human body!
