Bluebirds: from snuggle buddies to sworn enemies. Eastern Bluebird are currently being seen at feeders together, sharing a delicious beetle grub (mealworm), a pile of sunflower chips, or a mouthful of Bark Butter Bits during winter. On frigid cold nights, bluebirds will pack themselves on top of each other in nesting boxes to share body warmth. All this behavior changes as daylight lengthens and the temperature increases moving into Spring. They will compete over a precious... nesting space and resourceful habitat. Bluebird pairs become more aggressive toward one another and refuse to share anything with their winter friends! Bluebird houses need to be separated at least 150ft apart so territories are not crossed. Our best suggestion is putting one nesting box in the front yard and one in the back, using your house as a dividing line. Feeding them separately is also recommended for the most productive nesting season come spring! Who's excited!?! See more

We are taking applications for employment, and are looking for people who are high-energy, love nature, like to keep busy, and are ready to learn something new every day. Download an application through the link below and email it or bring it in for us to review. This is fast-paced retail, and we're looking forward to Spring and nesting season. The next few months are a busy time for the birds and for us, and this is a great time to learn the ropes! Please share if you know anyone that may be interested in this fun opportunity!
