The new Wellstar Cobb Hospital chapel is a place for emotional and spiritual peace for team members and patients to share. Now located in the heart of the hospital, the chapel was funded entirely by donations to the Wellstar Foundation from Wellstar Cobb volunteers, team members, regional board members, grateful patients, and individual donors. In recognition of his commitment and longtime service, the chapel is dedicated in honor of Hospital Chaplain, Raymond Coffman. Thank you to everyone who supported the Foundation to help make this beautiful place a reality. #PhilanthropyAtWork

As the basketball playoffs start to heat up, you may be all about your favorite player's PTS, FGA (field goals attempted) and REB (rebounds). But are you on top of your LDL and HDL cholesterol numbers? LDL is the "bad" kind, which leads to fat buildup that can increase your risk for heart attacks, strokes and other conditions. HDL is the one you need for a healthy heart, which is found in foods that are high in fiber, such as oatmeal and beans, and unsaturated fats, such as avocado and nuts. #KnowYourStats #MensHealth
Hey man, your favorite athletes have stats - and so do you. BMI (body mass index), BP (blood pressure) and PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) are some of the numbers you need to stay on top of your game. Learn more at wellstar.org/knowyourstats. #MensHealthMonth #KnowYourStats
You may know your favorite baseball player's ERA (earned run average), but what about your own PSA (prostate-specific antigen) level? The American Cancer Society recommends men ask their doctors about prostate cancer screening at age 50. African Americans and men with a father or brother who had prostate cancer before age 65 should talk to their doctor about testing when they're 45. #KnowYourStats #MensHealth
COVID-19 cases are spiking and frontline workers are fighting harder than ever. As our battle continues across the state, help us #makewellhappen by wearing your mask, washing your hands and watching your distance.

Vaccines are arriving in Georgia, and the very first phase of the rollout for healthcare workers is underway across the state. But broadly-available vaccines are still potentially months away for the general population. Meanwhile, COVID cases are spiking now in our community. The best ways you can protect yourself and others are to wear a mask, wash your hands and watch your distance. Together, we can #MakeWellHappen.
Our Women’s Health Physician Leadership Council received their COVID-19 vaccines and encouraged fellow team members to follow their example. We’re thankful for all those leading the way and helping our teams get protected. #covid19vaccine
Our team members at Wellstar Cobb Hospital are bringing the fight to COVID as they rolled up their sleeves and received the much-anticipated vaccine last week. These frontline heroes have been treating our patients with compassion and world-class care while tackling a pandemic and working to stop the spread of the virus. We are so thankful to our vaccination team for distributing these vials of hope quickly and safely so that our nurses and doctors can keep our communities safe. #COVID19Vaccine
Respiratory therapists play an important role in the recovery of many of our patients, especially those fighting critical conditions. These team members care for patients using their unparalleled expertise in our ICU's, but also work in our NICU's caring for premature babies, emergency departments and many other areas of the health system. In 2020, they have been involved in the treatment of every COVID-19 patient in our hospitals. This Respiratory Therapy Week, we celebrate more than 400 Wellstar team members across our system who help patients heal, one breath at a time. #RTWeek

It’s Falls Prevention Week, and we want you to know that one in three people over the age of 65 falls each year, according to the National Institute of Health. The elderly population is especially at risk, as a fall can lead to permanent injury and loss of mobility. In addition to fall proofing your home by adding grab bars and reducing fringe from rugs, rehabilitation or physical therapy services can help you or a loved one regain strength and balance. If you know someone who can benefit from these services, call 770-956-STAR to find a Wellstar occupational or physical therapist near you. #PreventFallsGeorgia #PreventTrauma #FallsFreeGeorgia
Luther Virgil has battled and overcome cancer with the help of Dr. Murphy Townsend and Dr. Justin Hart here at Wellstar. He is also supporting his father in the same battle, confident in the team that already saved his life. Dr. Hart notes that men who have a family history of prostate cancer need to see their doctor to work on a personalized plan. This is especially important for African American men, who are more likely to develop prostate cancer. For more information on the importance of regular check-ups, visit: http://spr.ly/6189GtHTl. #PeopleCare #ProstateCancerAwareness
At Wellstar Cobb Hospital, we care for the whole person body, mind and spirit. Our team recognizes the importance of supporting families spiritually during the healing process, and that’s why we’re proud to receive the Excellence in Spiritual Care Award once again in 2020. Wellstar has integrated spiritual health and chaplaincy into our overall healthcare delivery, and we are honored to be recognized for our achievement, said Reverend Raymond G. Coffman, manager of Wellstar Cobb Hospital’s spiritual health team. #PeopleCare

Whether you're coming in for your regular exams, a follow-up appointment or a procedure, you can rest assured that our clinics, health parks and hospitals are taking every precaution to make your visit as safe as possible. Upon arrival, every team member and patient has a temperature and symptom check, protecting everyone at the facility. Masks are also required, helping prevent the spread of disease. #SafeCare #PeopleCare
Kevin Crute (right) had a heart failure condition so severe that Wellstar heart failure specialist Dr. Brian Howard wasn't sure his patient would survive past 2019. But thanks to a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Kevin had implanted in February of that year, he had a second chance at life and is back to doing the things he loves. The LVAD device pumps blood from the left ventricle and throughout Kevin's body, assisting his weakened heart so he can return to his work and family. To learn about obtaining a physician referral for LVAD or other heart failure services at Wellstar, please call the Comprehensive Care Clinic at 470-793-0200.
Congratulations to Dr. Harry Lightfoot and his team for completing 2,000 robotic surgeries, placing him in the top 1%, per patient volume, of all general robotic surgeons in the county. It is an incredible accomplishment for Cobb Hospital, one of 29 da Vinci Surgical System Epicenters in the United States. These facilities are front runners in robotic surgery and demonstrate dedication to world-class healthcare, excellence in patient outcomes and passion for teaching. #MakeWellHappen
