West Georgia Museum 12.12.2020

Many people do not know that Tallapoosa used to have a goldmine that for many years was worked and was surrounded by a small village. Not long ago this old mine was reopened and is being actively worked today. Needless to say many old artifacts are being found, including two carts that were used to haul the ore. These artifacts are the property of the West Georgia Museum, and right now the museum is planning a new exhibit about the mine, but this exhibit will cost money.... If you are interested in helping to preserve our history and would like to contribute, you can send your contribution to: The West Georgia Museum, 185 Mann St., Tallapoosa, GA 30176. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Bud Jones, Chairman of the Board West Georgia Museum

The West Georgia Museum of Tallapoosa is working on a new exhibit featuring some astounding artifacts from the old gold mine in our area. Hopefully this exhibit will be ready for the public by mid June. If you would like to help with this project, you can make a donation directly to the museum at 185 Mann Street, Tallapoosa, Ga. You can also help by joining our Museum League. It costs $25.00 a year and helps pay for the projects that the museum brings to the public. You will also receive our quarterly newsletter and also receive passes to the museum. Thank you for your support!
