To show our support for our local health care workers, our students wrote 1,000 notes and packed care packages for each employee at St. Mary’s Hospital. Members of the National Honor Society delivered these gifts to St. Mary’s yesterday. Thank you to all of the health care workers in our community!

Lots of progress on the Athletic Complex improvements this week. The wall is almost complete and the new bleachers and fencing will be next. Annual Fund giving makes projects like this possible!

Today our Lower School students got to meet the newest member of the Westminster family...our new mascot! Go Lions!

Our middle school girls basketball team spent the afternoon investing in our 3rd and 4th grade girls teams by hosting a mini-camp for them. The girls enjoyed spending time with each other and learning more about basketball. This is just one example of the many ways our older students invest in our younger students! Truly the Westminster Way!

Congratulations to the middle school boys who defeated Prince Avenue 44-39 to claim the Athens Area League Championship! Go Lions!

Our middle school boys defeated Oglethorpe Middle 44-22 on Saturday to advance to the championship of the Athens Middle School League. The Lions are 16-1 on the season and will play Prince Avenue at 6:45 on Monday at Oglethorpe Middle School. Go Lions!

Congratulations to our Varsity Boys Cross Country team who finished second at today’s GAPPS State Championship Meet. Sophomore Isaac Heydinger set a new school record with a time of 18:24 and finished fourth overall. Our Varsity girls also had a strong showing finishing 4th. Thank you coaches and runners for a great season!

Today was such a fun day on campus! We celebrated our amazing students with Student Appreciation Day and our Pre-K students had their annual bike riding day!

Congratulations to the middle school volleyball team who finished 4th in the AthensArea Volleyball tournament on Saturday! The Lady Lions were the only private school team to make it to final four teams and finished their season with close losses to Oconee Middle and Malcom Bridge Middle. Congratulations ladies on a great season!

Dr. Nathan Kirkpatrick ’01 currently serves in the Brock School of Business at Samford Universi...ty as an assistant professor of sports business. Most recently, Kirkpatrick served for two years in the Nelson Rusche College of Business at Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) in Texas. While at SFA, Kirkpatrick served as a clinical instructor of management and marketing, and also led their sports business program housed on SFA’s campus in The Woodlands, Texas (Houston area). Prior to working at SFA, Kirkpatrick led the sport administration program in Samford’s School of Health Professions for five years, and he also worked as an assistant professor of sports administration at Belhaven University’s School of Business. Kirkpatrick started his professional career working in college athletics as a director of basketball operations, head men's basketball coach, academics and eligibility worker, and athletic administrator within athletic departments at Colorado State University, Covenant College, and The University of Georgia. He played basketball at Covenant College. Kirkpatrick received a Bachelor of Arts in history and secondary education from Covenant College, and a master's and Ph.D. concentrated in sport management and policy from the University of Georgia. He is married to Emily Hart Kirkpatrick. They have three children: Joshua, Caleb, and Molly. See more
