Alumni Spotlight :: WEEK 5 - Jessica Landry My name is Jessica Landry and I attended Westminster for 1st through 6th grades. It was a very long and impactful time! One of my favorite memories was when my class would gather around the teacher's desk after lunch (when I was in 5th and 6th grade) and would listen to her read aloud, The Lord of the Rings. We all talked about the stories and laughed- it was a sweet time. A WCS education is not one that just teaches the mind.WCS ...really feeds the young believer's soul. Faith comes first, so if that is important to a family, WCS is the place for them! Also, the small class size provides a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity and active learning. I stay busy and am currently a student, studying to be an Occupational Therapy Assistant
My name is Jackie Fleenor and I attended Westminster from 1st grade through 6th grade. Six years! I loved the relationships I built at Westminster. We spent a lot of time together at school, but also spent tons of time together outside of school. There was a great sense of community at WCS! Some of my favorite memories during my six years at WCS were doing skits during chapel, FALL FESTIVAL (it was always one of the highlights of my year), field trips, and playin...g kickball during recess. If you are thinking about enrolling your child at Westminster, I say, "Go for it!". I loved my time at Westminster. It was a safe, sweet place with wonderful teachers. Currently, I work for a local non-profit ministry that works closely with the schools in our area. I am in charge of their middle school program. This is my 4th year on staff with them. I'm also getting married very soon, so I have been doing a lot of wedding planning! See more
Alumni Spotlight :: WEEK 4 - Tabitha Harpster I attended WCS from kindergarten through 6th grade. I loved the fall festival! Pockets the Clown was so silly and fun (Mary Lou Wilson playing the role, followed by my mom, Lori Peters). The hayrides were a blast, too. We always had so much fun on the playground at recess. I loved chapel day. We used to have a blast climbing over and under and through stacks of chairs, which we weren't supposed to do, but we did it every chance we... got. What an adventure! Haha. Some of my best childhood memories were made at Westminster. There were numerous teachers who impacted and shaped my entire life. I would love the opportunity to send my children there. I am an Army wife and mother to a very active 18 month old little boy, Brantley; we are expecting our second child in February. We currently are stationed at Ft Benning for the next couple of years, which I'm loving! It's so nice being back home. I am a stay at home mom, which I am beyond thankful for. I love spending my days chasing the little guy around and driving around town looking for tractors and construction sites. I have my master's degree in school counseling, and I hope to use that degree once our children are in school.
My name is Allison Turner and I attended Westminster Christian School for grades K3-K5. I have really good memories of all of my teachers - and then so many of ...my clearest memories are actually from recess on the playground and playing on the monkey bars, swings, and the old playhouse that used to be out there. I also remember prayer time each morning in K5! Mrs. Nipper would have us share prayer requests, and we would all pray together as a class. For any family considering WCS, I think that it is such a wonderful school and place to have the opportunity to send your child each day. The teachers love their students well, and with it being a Christian school, students are able to learn about Christ and the gospel in a close knit environment and community of families. Currently, I live in Birmingham, Alabama and am an art teacher at a private school teaching grades K4-12th.
WCS Spotlight :: Ashley Luther I attended Westminster from Preschool thru 6th Grade. When thinking back, the playground at Westminster was one of my fondest memories - my absolute favorite playground of all time - it's where my imagination came to life, friendships were made, yet also many lessons too. Not only was I prepared educationally to move on to the middle school I attended, but WCS taught me about the importance of character building. Because the class sizes are sma...ll, the teachers are able to spend more time with each student. That helped in providing further growth for a child. I am a graduate of Valdosta State University and am back to living in Columbus, Georgia, working at TracSoft, Inc. which is a technology and website design company.
WCS Alumni Spotlight :: Zach Griffin "I attended Westminster from K5 to the 3rd grade. I honestly don't remember many specific memories, but I can remember doing fun projects in Mrs. Acree's class, playing on the playground with my friends, spelling bee (though I was never any good at it), speech meet, definitely chili cook off, and having fun learning with a small class size. I would say that WCS is bar none one of the most excellent sources of Christian preschool and eleme...ntary education in the Columbus area. This is especially apparent in the teacher - student interaction. The small class sizes allow for a dynamic and edifying relationship between students and teachers, not just academically but socially and personally. I feel as if the faculty and staff at WCS really care about students and even to this day when I happen to be at Westminster (even though it has only been a few times) I feel as if teachers are still supportive, loving and caring towards me and my future. Right now I am at UGA pursuing a double major in music education and music performance, hoping to go to graduate school for performance, education, or conducting."
