Quality ingredients make up a quality Saturday night

Bruichladdich Black Art 1994 | This edition of Black Art is symbolic of a moment in time that should not be forgotten. Signifying the end of an era, 1994 was the year Bruichladdich was closed for what could have been the last time. The nose is filled first with a rich marzipan, then walnut, creme caramel, turkish delight, hints of strawberry, violet, and coconut. There is a heavy fruit style with plum, poached pears, raisin and grapefruit and after opening further wood spice, nutmeg, toasted oak, roasted coffee beans, and muscovado sugar. The palate shows the oak’s power and give a hint of dryness but also waves of coconut, Turkish delight, soft caramel, and spiced orange. The finish is filled with roasted nuts, then tropical fruit, baked pineapple, and butterscotch give a sweetness that is sure to be remembered.

This is a signature label in honor of Nikka's founder Masataka Taketsuru, the first Japanese who mastered whisky-making in Scotland and brought this expertise back to Japan. This is an expression launched in 2020, with a refined formula and a new label design to represent the brand. While remaining a smooth and well-balanced blended malt, the formula further showcases an exquisite balance between elegant softness and deep complexity along with rich mouthfeel and smokiness.

Bib & Tucker 12 Year Barrel Select | This Tennessee whiskey is double-distilled, using an extended column still followed by an old-fashioned pot still. It’s non chill-filtered, aged in No. 1 charred American white oak barrels for at least six years and has a mash bill of 70 percent corn, 26 percent rye, and 4 percent malt. This 12 year old whiskey brings maple pralines and firewood to the nose. Vanilla, distant dark fruit and toasted almond tease the mouth. This whiskey lingers on the palate like a treasured memory.

Kosher wine is commonplace, but kosher spirits, not so much. Many spirits are, in fact, technically kosher, but Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky has taken a more proactive approach, working over the past 10 years with the Chicago Rabbinical Council on a line of purpose-built kosher American whiskeys. Every production step was overseen by the council, from barreling to bottling, resulting in 3 different recipes that were released at the end of Passover.
