Whitemarsh Island Community Center Meeting: October 2nd at 6pm 104 Penrose Drive Savannah GA 31410 As many of you know the Little Red School house has now moved to a new location. We need to come together as a community to decide what that property can be used for now. I want to make sure the property stays part of our community!!! It’s a great field and a great space that can be used kids, family, and pets. If the property is rented out, there is tables and chairs that can... be used in the shed. The land is maintained by the Chatham County Parks and Rec Department. The grass and property will continued to be maintained once every two weeks. Topics to be discussed: TAXES: We need to continue to receive and income. This can be done by someone renting out the property and/or dues being paid. BOARD MEMBERS: If you are interested in becoming a board member (Volunteer Work) please contact me at 912-856-5654. We need people that have time to collect dues, plan events, and handle/promote rentals. Positions that need to be filled: Secretary and Vice President We need our community to come together and keep this space ours. The Chatham County Board of Commissioners today announces its intention to increase the property taxes it will levy this year by 2.74 percentage over the rollback millage rate for General Maintenance and Operations taxes, and increase the property taxes it will levy this year by 40.99 percentage over the rollback millage rate for Special Service District taxes, and 72.46 percentage over the rollback millage rate for Chatham Area Transit Authority. New Years Bonfire New Years Eve 2015 ( Thursday December 31st _) Whitemarsh Island Community Club ... In the 1940s and 50s Savannahians celebrated the beginning of the New Year with bonfires around the town. Crates and boxes along with tires and anything else that would add to the pyrotechnic party were placed in Washington Square. The pyramid would sometimes reach 50 feet or more. When the pile was set ablaze, just before midnight, it would light up that part of the town. Our neighborhood bonfire has become a popular event. Some would say it has become an Island Tradition in keeping with Savannah’s past celebrations. We have adjusted the timing to accommodate families with young children, so our bonfire will be torched at 7:00 pm and festivities will go into the evening, as you like. Time: 5:30 meet up for some food and drink then stay around for the lighting of the bonfire and time of celebration. Please bring some snacks to share and your drink of choice. Savanna Book festival is coming up!

SCMPD: TRUNK OR TREAT!!! Savannah Police Department: "On Friday, October 30 from 5-7pm, we will line the parking lot of our precinct (54 Johnny Mercer Blvd.) with police cars and special operations units. Mounted patrol, K9, aviation, marine patrol, SWAT and more will be on site with displays! Oatland Island Wildlife Center will also be joining us and bringing some special animal guests. Our goal for this event is to offer kids a safe, fun place to trick-or-treat and show off their costumes, and we would love if you would join us!" Savannah Police Department

Neighborhood Garage Sale : Penrose Drive and Old Oatland Island Rd Please let me know if you will be holding a garage sale this weekend. I know maybe people were hesitant about doing it last weekend due to the weather. If people are participating I will see that signs are put out. Please let me know asap.
