Bible Study 4/29/20 Greeting to the Woodward Baptist Church Family, JESUS OUR TEACHER AND LEADER... Jesus taught as one having authority and not as the scribes. Matthew 7:29 The teaching of the scribes and elders were cold and formal. To them the Word of God processed no vital power. HOW WRONG THEY WERE! They profess to explain the law but no inspiration from God stirred their hearts or the hearts of their hearers. Jesus spoke with power, he taught with power. John 7:46 tells us "Never man spake like this man." Jesus teaching was so impressive because His Word was with power. Luke 4:32. Jesus taught a prayerful life. He went out into a mountain to pray and continued all night in prayer to God. Luke 6:12 Jesus devoted His life to doing good. Acts 10:38. So let us continue to let Jesus teach and lead us through His Word. HIS WORD IS POWER PACKED! Read: Matthew 7:28-29; John 7:44-46; Luke 4:31-32 Luke 6:12; Acts 10:36-38 Much Love God's Servant Pastor G. E. Love Continue to read Psalm 23 & 91 daily. Please mail your tithes to the church.

Devotional Reading: Isaiah 42:1-9 Background Scripture: Isaiah 61:8-62:12 Key Verse: For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. Isaiah 61:8 Text Scriptures: Isaiah 61:8-11 and 62:2-4A Supporting Scriptures: 1 Kings 3:16-28; Luke 4:14-21; Leviticus 25:8-17; Isaiah 49:1-7, 61:1-7, 62:5-12 Lesson Activity: This is a personal assessment. No need to post answers. Did You Ever . . . ? Although we like to think of ourselves as kind and caring people, we sometimes treat others in unjust ways. Which of the following have you been guilty of? I passed along unverified and negative news about someone I acted on an unfair conclusion about someone I shunned someone I thought of as socially inferior I made fun of someone behind his or her back I made someone look worse to make myself look better I reminded someone of a past sin of his or hers in a show of spiritual one-upmanship I maneuvered unfairly to take a better place in a store checkout line What can you do to make this right with God? with the person?
