While today may end the Shelter in Place order, the aftermath of the Coronavirus shutdown is clear. Local families are hurting more than ever, by no design of their own, with no clear end in sight. Rather than spending thousands on commercialized junk mail for the election, Lauren and I felt convicted this morning to use our resources to help the struggling families that are out of work and school as a result of the COVID19 mandates. At the end of the day, food on the commun...ity table is simply and infinitely better than mail in a box. This has been on our hearts for a while. That said, we are proud to partner again with our local Family Connection director, Brigette Barker, and Board Member Stacy Jarrard to help administer our gift, which we understand will extend food service well into the summer for local families in need. This was a silent legacy of my friend and late maternal grandmother, Vera Casey Fletcher, and is something we’ve felt worthy of continuation in our community since New Year’s Day 2020. Without more, there’s no finer feeling than extending a hand up to your fellow man, and no greater form of servant leadership for those able.
