For the first time in GPTC history, more than 46 employers and 350 jobseekers attended our annual job fair from their keyboards and webcams. Thursday’s Region...al+Virtual Job Fair 2020 was a reimagining of our traditional, in-person job fair into an online one in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Employers from throughout the region in the fields of manufacturing, film, entertainment, public safety, local government, bio-pharma, high-technology, and distribution met job candidates in exclusive online chat rooms provided by CareerEco: Virtual Events to discuss their current employment opportunities. And our partners at WorkSource Georgia helped jobseekers get a leg up with interactive webinars aimed at enhancing the job search through interview, resume writing and interview follow-up skills workshops. The virtual job fair was a great success. It provided a new platform for both employers and job candidates to connect and collaborate on potential job openings. We continue to be excited about our efforts in supporting small businesses and industries in our service area of DeKalb, Newton and Rockdale counties and beyond in Walton County, said GPTC Business and Industry Coordinator Kelly Pollard, seen here overseeing the event from his kitchen island at home. Stay tuned for details about a second chance to participate in our next virtual job fair in Fall 2020! Thanks to our event sponsors and community partners!
