A strong storm system will bring moderate to locally heavy rainfall, and even a few thunderstorms, to the area on Thursday. An intense cold front will bring much colder air to the area late Thursday into Thursday night. As the colder air moves in, any lingering rain showers could mix with or change over snow before ending -- mainly across portions of north Georgia. We do not anticipate in winter precipitation in the Jefferson County area during this event. It is important to note that depending on timing any water from the rain event remaining on roadways could produce patches of black ice once the temperatures drop below freezing.

Winds will be out of the northwest at 5-10 mph.... With dry fuels, high fire danger conditions can be expected.
