Friends, a winter storm is predicted for much of Northeast Georgia and that means the potential for dangerous driving conditions. Before you risk getting out on... the roads in severe weather, please pause and think of our local first responders and healthcare workers. They're slammed. They're exhausted. Our hospitals are at capacity and, just today, Habersham County Emergency Services sent out a request for people to limit their 911 calls to only "true emergencies." What that means is this: If you engage in risky behavior and hurt yourself or someone else in the process, you will not only harm those immediately around you but also our wider community. Right now folks, whether you believe COVID is real or not, it's ravaging our local healthcare system. We all need to do our part to slow the spread of the virus and reserve what precious medical resources we have for those who really need them. Don't become one of them. Be smart. Stay home if you can and don't drive in the snow and ice unless absolutely necessary. The ripple effect of your good behavior will go a long way in saving lives. See more
