Yonah Preserve Trails 30.12.2020

It sure was a great sight to see the parking lot full of trail users on Saturday! Trails are in great shape after we got them cleaned back up from all of the recent storms. I hope everyone got a chance to get some outside time this holiday weekend.

Great news everyone! Thanks to a huge amount of effort on many different fronts, I am happy to announce that Yonah Preserve will reopen Sunday, 11/22/2020 at 8am. Trailhead bathrooms will be available for use as well. I want to personally thank the 30 volunteers we had on site today to get the trails in a useable condition, and our partners with the county for getting them open as quickly as we told them it was safe to do so. Go use them in good health! Sincerely, Clark Neal, YPT project coordinator.

Folks, Yonah Preserve is still closed until further notice. We are dealing with trees down across the entire trail system, and once those have been safely cut, we will be able to utilize volunteers to help get the trails cleaned up and repaired so they can safely be used again. We will keep this page updated as we move forward getting them back usable again. Thank you, Clark Neal, project coordinator.

Yonah Preserve is closed until further notice. There are trees down across the entrance road that took out power lines, which are also lying across the road. There are trees down across the trail system that will need to be dealt with and we are in the process of scouting the system for damage and downed trees. There is also lots of debris on the trails which will need to be cleared with leaf blowers. I dumped over 4 of rain out of the rain gauge there today. Please do not s...end private messages asking if the trails are open yet. Trust me, we will post here once they are safe to use again. The county has the gates chained and padlocked to prevent access to the property until it is safe to do so. We will post here about any group efforts to clean the trail system up, so keep an eye out here for that. Thank you, Clark Neal, YPT project coordinator. See more

As much as we love the trails at YPT, it is easy to forget that they were not always here. Just 3 short years ago, they were just getting under construction.

OK trail users, does anyone know anything about this bike in the picture? It has been sitting at the trail head in the bike rack for about 10 days now. If no one claims it, it will be disposed of. Thanks!

We took our newest member of the family, Annie out for a hike on the trails today. She was especially interested in this mallard drake swimming around just out of reach over at the point. Annie is a rescued Brittany Spaniel from Spain that we adopted from Tina Leone of Sporting Dog Rescue International during this crazy quarantine lockdown. She has been a welcome addition to our family during this trying time. She loved being at YPT today!

OK trail users, the work has been completed on the connector trail. Please use caution on this segment until the trail bed gets compacted again. Thank you again to the wonderful volunteers that gave of their time and expertise to get this section repaired!

Yonah Preserve Trails 09.06.2020

Trail users, please use caution if you are out on the trails today, Monday. May11. A group of volunteers will be working on the connector trail removing a leaning tree that has uprooted a portion of the trail with it's root ball. The connector trail is the trail that connects from the parking lot out to the dam and onward to the 200 trail. The first segment that leaves the parking lot is where the work will take place, just before the trail crosses the boat ramp access road. There will be mechanized equipment and chainsaw work being done, so use extreme caution if you are out using the trail this morning. I will update this post once the work has been completed.
