Remember, Ash Wednesday Services tomorrow evening, 6:00 PM. We will gather for a brief, 20 minute or so remembrance as we enter Lent. And for Sunday, February 21st. Things We Face in the Wilderness... Hebrews 4:15; Mark 1: 12-13; Proverbs 14:12 First Sunday in Lent Jesus was tempted and tormented in the wilderness. We know all about wildernesses and tormenting and being tempted. The passage from Hebrews remember that Jesus was tempted as we are, but without sin. We wish we could say the same. We are encouraged, though, because with the spirit of Christ, we are strengthened to overcome,.

Folks, I hesitate to speak much about personal finance and taxes, but I wanted to share this. The November CARES (Covid relief) Act included a provision allowing a $300 "above the line" deduction for charitable contributions (1040 Line 10.b). Previously, it was allowed only for itemizers, which, with the doubling of the Standard Deduction a few years, many people could not take advantage of it. It's small, but it helps. I had heard this earlier, but in doing taxes, I confirmed it. As with anything of this nature, be sure to trust your tax advisor.

Wear something which pertains to Valentines Day - and bring someone you love or really like or are sweet on to Church. (The dinner or date or whatever afterward is on you, but if it all starts in worship, you are setting it up for success!)... See you in a few!!

For Sunday, February 14th. One of the Nine Mark 9: 2-10 Transfiguration Sunday... Three Disciples were invited to the top of the mountain to share in a quite special time with Jesus. Nine were not. Were the three special? Or did they need, or lack something the nine already had? Think about it. And, remember the oddity of Valentines Day (aka Feast Day of Saint Valentine, one of the first Christian martyrs and minister to persecuted Christians) falling on Sunday this year! Won't see it again until 2027. So begin the day with worship and plan for a special time with your beloved!
