W H A T A D A Y I T W A S Wow. What a doozie FB Memories served up to me today. Four years ago... my first real estate listing... my really old friends will recognize that this is also the home where I grew up (which has nothing to do with this story, but is just a fun detail). I was trying to hard to hold it together and look happy in this picture, when I was really just a swirl of sadness, confusion and anger on the inside. I had just separated from my husband of ...18 years, and I had no clue what would take place from one day to the next. There was a smile on the face, but it obviously didn't reach the eyes that were constantly filled with tears. Maybe this was the lowest I have ever felt. Ever. Actually. Literally. No hyperbole. This lovely little home went under contract almost immediately, and we had to find a home for my sellers. It felt like a comedy skit because each time I would get settled into a project (I was moving into my own, single-lady home...), my clients would call me to see another home. I didn't know how to write a contract or field an offer or even use Docusign... so in addition to everything, I was also running back and forth like a crazy woman having them wet-sign all of their documents. #blessmyheart Fast forward to today... my work has kept me going. I <3 the work I do to help people making moves, and now I've successfully closed dozens and dozens of sales. I routinely write, receive and field offers for the largest investments most people make in their lives... and I can even use Docusign too! In my business we ALL love working with first-time buyers and young families... they are all starry-eyed and hopeful, and I always pray some of their good juju will rub off on me. But we are frequently helping people who are going through what I did, or people who are leaving their last homes they'll ever have to go into assisted living, or families who have lost someone they love. I would've never wished to have experienced the loss that I did, but man does it give me a well to draw from when working with people experiencing hard times. I am grateful for the depth that loss has provided me. So many thanks to all of the people who have used me as their trusted advisor during their home sale process. I don't know where I would be without each of you and the experience I gained from working with you. Thank you to my Mama who was my rock in the darkness. Thank you to other family and friends who held me up when I couldn't stand on my own. Thank you to my children who never stopped believing that I could do anything. I even say thank you to the ex-husband who is my faithful friend, even if he didn't stay married to me. The love that you have all showered onto me has absolutely sustained me. I am grateful for you. FRESHLY MINTED TERRIER IN THE HOUSE... or out of the house, I suppose. Yesterday, my youngest - @annabelwesttt went off to college! She’s attending Wofford College in SC which happens to be my AND my father’s alma mater. It was a long but beautiful day. I ran into old friends on campus while she made new ones. She’s living on the same hall I did during my freshman year, in a dorm where her grandfather also lived. Three generations! My heart is full of pride (is it *really* sinful to be so proud of your children?). They had class photos in the student center center going back to 1989 which I just had to include here for verification. Prayers for all the kids starting anew this year! So proud of you, Bel! Go Terriers!

What I did most of the time on vacay...

I T ' S M O N D A Y , A N D I A M B A C K ! Not sure if you noticed (probably not, lol), but I took a couple of weeks off! First, there was vacation... a week at the beach with my family... and then there was "vacation re-entry... "... and well, you know what a challenge that can be... sooo, here I am! I wanted to wish you a GREAT MONDAY with all the warm fuzzies I can muster. And, if you'll indulge me, I'd like to ask a favor of you... I drop my youngest off at c...ollege this week (she's going to Wofford College, my AND her grandfather's alma mater!), and I'm a little nail-bitey over it... so will you please send some prayer or good vibes or great juju in my direction?
