A good first step, before assuming a dreaded virus infection, would be to run disk cleanup. It might take a while if you don't use regularly, so maybe crank this up before going to lunch or home for the day.

Have you ever had a problem where copying and pasting causes the information to be garbled or hard to manage? It's because formatting information is being copied along with the text. An easy way around this is to paste into your new document by holding down the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys and hitting the letter "V". This is a special "Paste" that will remove that pesky formatting. FYI, hitting "Ctrl" "V" is normal paste, the same as clicking Edit->Paste.

Tip of the day: Want to delete an entire word? Don't keep hitting backspace, just hold down the "Ctrl" key and hit backspace. It'll delete the entire word for you.
