The FAO has just released its biannual report on global food markets. As expected, both global meat production and market prices have declined, due to the ongoing economic disruptions of the COVID-19 crisis, coupled with the impact of African swine fever. Pork production has led the decline, following by beef, while poultry has seen modest growth this year. At the same time, China has continued to aggressively expand meat imports and is expected to grow by 44%, reaching up to 30% of the global meat trade at 37.6 million tons. For decades, the AJC team in Atlanta has looked forward to our annual Thanksgiving pot-luck, but as with most things in 2020, this year’s celebration was a little different. Every year, AJC Cares hosts fundraising events to support the Susan G. Komen 3-Day event in the fight against breast cancer.
