Today is the last day to register for the GFWC Annual Convention happening in our favorite city, Atlanta!

New AWC members Alicyn McLeod and Isabel Urrutia joined club President Jo Dee Gonzalez and 1st VP Connie Morris for a volunteer event at the Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House. Over twenty breakfast bags were made and rose centerpieces arranged for tables. The Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House was founded in 1979 to provide affordable lodging for patients and caregivers seeking treatment in Atlanta. For the past three decades, Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House has provided a home away from home," where staff and volunteers offer home-cooked meals and supportive companionship in an effort to improve the health and welfare of families in the midst of medical crisis.

Happy Arbor Day! We are fortunate to live in a city full of trees. Atlanta is affectionately known as the City in the Forest!

For GFWC Georgia North West District Friends Day of Service on April 23rd, 2021, our Health and Wellness Committee collected and delivered various items to the Ronald McDonald House at Scottish Rite to help ease the burden of the families who are staying there. A wonderful day of service!

Tomorrow, March 17, the U.S. House of Representatives plans to vote on HJ Res 17, a bill to remove the time limit on ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Except with regard to the right to vote, the United States Constitution does not guarantee women the same legal status and protections guaranteed to men, and will not do so until an amendment for that purpose is included in the U.S. Constitution. In cases of sexual violence, workforce discrimination due to pregnancy, or unequal pay, the ERA provides critical support in the fight for equal justice. Members donated home care packages this morning to Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV), Georgia's largest nonprofit domestic violence organization. Founded in 1975, PADV provides professional, compassionate, and empowering support to women and their children throughout metro Atlanta. Katie, a staff member at PADV, met us at the Wimbish House to collect the items. These care packages will support families that are moving out of a shelter and into their safe, new home. Happy International Women's Day! Since 1911, women all around the world have gathered to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness about gender parity, and advocate for women's equality. This year's theme is #Choosetochallenge, where a challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. #internationalwomensday
