Today, we reflected on things we were thankful for! From family Thanksgivings in person or via FaceTime, to our sweet pups, co-residents who bring you cookies and handmade cards because you’re working the holiday, and even handmade egg rolls, we are thankful for all of it. Off days: they can be hard to come by, but residency teaches you how to live them up! We like to spend time with our loved ones, enjoy the outdoors, and sometimes we end up right back together for a good workout, study session, or hangout. Here’s the story/ of a facial surgeon/ who was bringing up eight lovely residents/ they were six men/ and two ladies/ and they were all growing up/ one day soon we will match two more on a hunch/ and this group will become a larger family/ And that’s the way we’ll all become the AU bunch

What’s unique about your program? Good question! Let me show you just one of the amazing things we have unique to AU OMFS. We have our very own state of the art Ambulatory Surgical Center adjacent to our OMFS clinic. Staffed by an operating room nurse, two critical care nurses, and surgical technicians along with clerical and support. This allows patients an ambulatory care setting for their outpatient OR procedures, and increases our anesthesia knowledge throughout all four years of our training! This has helped us to effectively double our OR cases over the last couple of years while maintaining the integrity of our dentoalveolar experience. DID YOU KNOW...these two outstanding OMFS residents created a sleek, more innovative and foolproof COVID-19 swab using 3D printing technology in the beginning of the outbreak?? They worked tirelessly, and still do, to ensure there is no shortage of these swabs in Georgia- printing thousands by the day! @ Cleft & Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center

Alexander Faigen is a jack of trades and a master of all. Arguably the coolest OMFS surgeon you’ll meet and down to earth. When he’s not 3D printing models or guides for the service, you can find him hunting and fishing. He’s our foundation that keeps this service grounded. Chris Ibrahim is our California man that brings a bit of the west coast all the back to the southeast. He enjoys cooking, fishing, working out. Always here to offer advice and to hangout #Risingchiefs.

Introducing your PGY-2s. To the left we have legendary Kyle Frazier: one of the nicest individuals you will meet. He’s a loving husband and father of five adorable children. He loves outdoor activities, popcorn, Mountain Dew, but most of all... Milk. To the right we have Pratik. He loves jogging, listens to CarbiB on the regular. And by run, we mean walk.

Meet your AU PGY1 OMFS residents! Basically long lost caffeine sisters. On the right is Liz from Seattle, WA- she’s currently on her 5 month anesthesia rotation and killing it! She has an adorable 5 year old she loves spending time with Jess, on the left, is from Springdale, AR. She just finished her internal medicine rotation. She spends her time in spin and yoga class, and watching football. Basically the first year dream team- if you’re looking for them, find them at your local coffee shop @ Cleft & Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center
