Hey Team! It’s Coach Thomas. I am very sad we didn’t get to have our season this year! Not only did I miss my Barracudas, but it was my older daughter, Ramona’s senior year and she was our ONLY senior. Everything else that was supposed to happen for her (and all the other seniors we know) didn’t happen due to the Pandemic. Well, thanks to Kendra Berberich Thompson , Jeff Sjogren, Michael Smith, Denise Varnadoe, and Anna Benefield, we had Ramona’s Senior Swim. It is my sincere hope that we will be back next year and have the MOST AWESOME COMEBACK SEASON EVER! Until then, here are pictures from Ramona’s Senior Swim

For the first time in over a decade (for me) I’m not spending the first Tuesday after Memorial Day at a summer league swim meet . The sound of the starter horn and the smell of chlorine always felt like the beginning of summer! Since that’s not possible this year, check out this video from 2012’s season. The class of 2020 was in the 4th grade..... https://youtu.be/olrvoQWiIi0

Hello, Barracuda Nation! Coach Thomas here, we hope that you all are staying well and staying home! We're remaining in communication with the Atlanta Swimming Association. Here is the short version of their most recent statement - "YES, our plan is to have a swim season, we have a decent amount of time to work with before we have to make any final decisions regarding the season. We should hopefully be coming out of the woods in time to have a season. That season may be dela...yed in starting and finishing." Yes, that is a bit ambiguous. You may be asking, "When would a delay start?" or "How long would the season last?" or "Why do you think we care about swim team when we're just trying to get kids to do their Distance Learning and not kill each other?!" All legitimate questions that have no current concrete answers. We'll let you know, when we know. So, while this #Coronashutdown is happening, let's share some with each other. Feel free to share pics of your swimmers and what they're doing to stay entertained, stay healthy, and stay sane! (Parents, as we're into week 3, your sanity may already be gone). We are a community and communities rely on each other to help us through difficult situations. Take care and stay well!

Reposting from Neighborhood group: Emory Healthcare needs goggles. Swim goggles were approved by the Director of IP Emory Healthcare. It would not be the first line of defense. However, if there are no medical goggles available, then swim goggles could be used. At this point, Emory is low on medical goggles, not completely out. Barbara Arne (former Lakeside Swim Mom) is placing a box for collection below her mailbox, if folks would like to drop off any for delivery (2014 Deborah Drive). Or, you can drop them off at the Emory Donation site on Clifton Rd by the Emory Conference Center.

Swim Team Update As you may have already seen on the Swim Team site, we have postponed registration. We will continue to monitor suggestions from CDC and ASA as it regards to the 2020 summer swim league. We'll keep you informed in the coming weeks what's decided. For now...practice your swimming social distancing style. Be well!
