I've been thinking a lot lately, like so many of you, about awareness. Awareness for BIPOC, awareness for the LGBTQIA+ community, awareness for birthing persons who do not identify as the stereotyped "woman", awareness for those persons who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss. With all of this thinking, I've decided I am past due to overhaul major changes in language and advocacy on this page and in my birthing practice in general. Awareness and solidarity have always been a part of my business creed, but now, it's time to make this unilateral across all aspects. BMBS is about to look very, very differently. Stay tuned for the overhaul. Additionally, I have a big announcement regarding the communities I serve, upcoming. This is powerful movement in the right direction, where knowledge is power, and this is growth.

Remembering has been a major focus for me in the last few months. No, not remembering my childhood, not remembering on a human level... the deeper, truer, richer remembering. The remembering of our divinity. The remembering our Source Beings. The remembering of love; the love we hold inside, the love of the Universe for each of us, Divine Love. I’ve come to note that much of my Shaman work for myself and others dwells upon assisting others and myself to remember. It’s comp...licated. It’s endless, and yet it’s simple. Helping you to remember who you are, from before all of this, from your core Self, from the source of springing Universal love. I’ve coined this The Great Remembering. This happens in healings, in Soul journeys, in chakra balancing and more. It also helps when preparing to give birth. All of which I gratefully offer to you, all of my fellow Souls. I’ve asked myself a million times what I’d say in this post, knowing full well there are no words, knowing full well there are too many words. So I’m going to keep this as simple as possible. At Bella Mundo we consider the lives, pregnancies, births, and freedoms of our black sisters, siblings, and brothers sacred. I have attended the births of black persons knowing full well the state of maternal crisis each black birthing person faces entering a hospital: Black persons a...re 3x more likely to die in childbirth than white, black persons are profiled for drug tests with no justifiable cause at an alarming rate far superior than white persons, and black persons are far more likely to be refused requested pain relief and medical treatment than white birthing persons. To name just a very few. It has been my honor to stand beside black birthing humans during their birthing time, and I look forward to continuing to do so, while acting not only as their comfort but also their advocate. In addition, I stand behind the Black Lives Matter movement, without flinching. From a shamanistic perspective I acknowledge and respect the historical trauma black persons carry, not only from historical crimes but also from the reality that remains present today. Any denial of that present reality for black persons is, by definition, racist in itself. This image moved me being words. Her beautiful face while protesting in Baltimore speaks a thousand words. I ask that if you are not supportive of truly equal freedoms and protections for all persons regardless of: race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, sexual identity, birthing choices, etc. that you feel free to leave my Instagram page. Mornings on my mat have turned into a must for me. After my morning ritual of I Ams, calling upon my Universal Guide Goddesses, followed by a bit of coffee, I hit the mat and suddenly I’m completely restored. This beach has really become my happy place in the last year. A little run, some yoga, meditation, and a good book restores the soul here. I watched a beautiful husky frolic and play and bound all around me here last night. He reminded me of how essential joy and play are to our wild, sometimes dusty, spirits. At one point he bounced up to me and looked me right in the eyes, his were a perfect wolf blue. I placed my arm around him and could feel the free spirit within him. My... heart leapt to have had such a simple moment with a powerful being reminding me to just... shake loose, laugh, run, play, let my wild heart soar. Later, when I woke from my meditation, I opened my eyes to a seal not 100 feet from me hunting in the waters. He stayed near me for over an hour as he sought his dinner. Sigh.
