Families and caregivers who read to pre-school and younger elementary children are building language and learning skills that will last a lifetime. Helping children learn to read proficiently by the end of the third grade is a very important benchmark to ensure academic success. Did you know that in America, 83 percent of children who do not read on grade level by the beginning of fourth grade are at risk to not graduate from high school or graduate on time?
