"Georgia’s Asian American population has doubled in the past two decades, and you can give your money to places that will help keep them safe. In Georgia specifically, organizations like Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAAJ), the Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAF) and the Center For Pan Asian Community Services (CPACS) provide critical support to the community through legal services, policy advocacy, and life-saving resources for new immigrants and refugees."

"The cultural sector needs to ensure that the arts occupy a prominent place in the campaign conversation. Being the Arts Candidate would seem to be a pretty potent political brand."

"The $135 million relief grants for the NEA and NEH serve to almost double their budgets in 2021. But even when combined with earlier aid, the latest round of funding still falls far short of the $4 billion in funding the arts sector had called for in the #CongressSaveCulture campaign..."

Today is the last day of our colleague, Audrey Gámez. Audrey first begin with C4 Atlanta as an Ignite Facilitator. When Joe and I interviewed Audrey, we were very impressed. She was so relatable, smart, and knowledgeable about the field. I knew I wanted to work with this person. Six years have gone by. To say that we just worked together would be inadequate. For a nearly 11 year-old organization, six years means that Audrey built C4 with a team of people. She was integral t...o the work and her passion for artists is inspirational. In my clumsy writing, I wish I could tell you all how much I will miss working along side Audrey. But. I have no doubt that her next adventure will be incredible. Audrey started talking to me about her next career move about two years ago. I won't speak for Audrey, but I know for me the Pandemic caused me to think about the future. What will it be like? Audrey - you have dedicated SO much to C4 Atlanta. It isn't lost on me that this sector can eat a person up. I hope that you learned everything that you wanted to learn. And I am so grateful to you for leaving your successor a wealth of knowledge and passion to build on. We will all miss you. -- Jessyca Holland, Executive Director, C4 Atlanta

Some lessons and critique from Austin. "What we don’t want for this program to be is a box-checking exercise where no one looks at these plans again after the grant ends. With every venue, we see this as an ongoing relationship. And we’re trying to lay the groundwork to wrap equity resources, training and support across our music programs, fully recognizing this as a long-term process.

Some great basic tips here! "If you’re running a crowdfunding campaign for your creative work and aren’t seeing the results you’re hoping for, it’s easy to feel like your troubles are a result of personal failure or proof that your vision isn’t worthwhile. It’s certainly possible that a crowdfunding campaign can be a proof of concept and audience. It can also show that your work might not resonate as widely as you hope it does. But, it’s also entirely possible that you’re just making a common mistake with your crowdfunding campaign."

"With the number of vaccines approved and contracts to buy doses of them signed so far, the numbers don’t look promising for the great majority of the population to be inoculated before mid- to late summer, which is how my vision of us reconvening landed on autumn. (Sorry, Lollapalooza, but I just don’t see it and will be happy to be proven wrong.)"

CW: Article contains images of hate symbols From Washington Post - "Obscenities, Inanities And Treason’: A Critic On The Riot At The U.S. Capitol" "In real time, journalists and pundits expressed disbelief and wondered aloud: How can this be happening? There was a simple, terrible and chastening answer, and one that will sicken decent Americans for generations to come: It happened because we refused to believe it could happen." http://wapo.st/3i5gSTR

"What role can artists play in the healing of a nation wounded by a viral pandemic and the chronic diseases of racism, inequality and rabid partisanship? Even for the proponents of art for art’s sake, politics is inescapable."

"It would be easy to dismiss a surfeit of depressed artists as the most minor of national considerations, given the loss of jobs across the spectrum, but it is important to examine how we got to this point, and why there should be an onus on our politicians to take more care in their consideration of our collective fate."
