Hello to all in the Facebook World! We want to give you guys some tools to study your Bibles with, below is something put together from our Teaching Ministry here at the Church! The Teaching Ministry of Christ Fellowship Church is excited to share with you "How to Study the Bible". There is a difference between reading God's Word and studying God's Word; in fact, we are commanded in 2 Timothy 2:15 to, "study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth no be asha...med, rightly dividing the Word of truth." What does it mean to study? Consider these definitions: Careful or extended considerations; to meditate on, to reflect; the devotion of time and attention. Over the coming weeks we want to share with you over 20 different ways to study the Word of God! As we begin, here are some important tips: - Before beginning, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you. - Understand that you will develop the habit of spending time with God in His Word if you have an accountability partner. Someone you can talk with weekly to see how you are doing spending time in study. Men should have a male accountability partner and women should have a female accountability partner. - Realize that the Holy Spirit speaks in different ways. Sometimes the Spirit will reveal things to you quickly, at other times it is more of a process. -Write down what God is teaching you. Rick Warren offers this suggestion: When the Holy Spirit teaches you something from a verse on a passage of Scripture, ask yourself the why question: why did God share this truth with me? This is the application question. Did God share this for something in my life or is it for me to share with someone else? Is the truth for a current need or a future one? Write down what God taught you and write down why He gave it to you. here are some Scripture passages for you to practice on: 2 Corinthians 4:18 Psalm 30:11 1 John 1:9 Joshua 1:1-9 Zechariah 4:6 Romans 10:9-10 and John 3:16 2 Timothy 3:16 Matthew 4:1-11 Philippians 4:4-7 Psalm 119:11 and Psalm 119:105 Matthew 4:4 Psalm 103:12 and Hebrews 10:17 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Exodus 34:21 we hope to encourage your alone time with God as you immerse yourself deep into His Word!
