The city of Waycross recognizes one of our centenarians; Mrs. Novadine L. Everett. Novadine Alice Lee Everett Ms. Everett was born on May 17, 1916. Ms. Everett was born in Appling County and moved to Waycross when she was 5 years of age. Her parents are Joseph Caleb Lee and Eula Barnes Lee. Her father worked for ACL until he retired. After, retirement, Mr. Lee and his wife ran the Restaurant Creamland. ... Ms. Novadine married Tracy Louis Everett. Mr. Everett serviced in the navy; then, he and Ms. Novadine ran Tracy’s cleaners. Mr. Everett became a Chevron jobber until he retired. She had four siblings, three (3) deceased Lawanna, twin brothers, James Thomas and James Henry, and a living sister, Patsy. She has (1)one Daughter, Mrs. June Everett Pittman. She has been a member of Central Baptist Church for way over 50 years
The city of Waycross recognizes one of our centenarians; Mrs. Margaret Davis. Margaret Cantrell Davis celebrated her 103rd birthday on July 18th. Formerly a resident of Patterson now residing at Baptist Village in Waycross, Georgia. Her two daughters, Betty Barnard, Clemont, FL, and Judy Rowell, Brunswick, GA were not able to celebrate this joyous day with her due to COVID-19 regulations but rejoiced in prayer for her safety.
The city of Waycross recognizes one of our centenarians; Mrs. Elnora Burrough. Elnora Burrough (100) Ms. Elnora Burrough was born on October 17, 1919, in Wilcox County. She was raised on a farm tending to mules, picking and chopping cotton, stacking peanuts, and much more. She also worked at a laundry mat. She raised two kids in Rochelle Ga. She retired at 80 years old and moved to Waycross, Ga. She had 12 siblings who have all deceased. She has three daughters, Mamie Dean Canty, Louise Dean Craig, and Georgia Mae Easley, and nine grandkids.

The city of Waycross recognizes one of our centenarians; Mrs. Jewell Spence Davis. JEWELL SPENCE DAVIS (103) Mrs. Jewell Spence Davis, 103, lifelong resident of Waresboro and retired teacher at Waresboro Elementary was born to Luke and Nettie Cribb Spence on March 8th, 1917 on the family farm near Waresboro. She had seven brothers and sisters, three reached their mid to late 90s, all deceased. She graduated from Waresboro High school, South Georgia College in Douglas, Ge...orgia Southern in Statesboro, and Valdosta State College. At the age of 18, she began her teaching career at Waresboro and retired from that same school 37 years later. She married Joseph Clayton Davis son of Early A. Davis and Lilly Hodges Davis of Telmore April 7, 1939. They have 2 children; Joseph Spence Davis (Elaine) of Waresboro and Betty Davis Lee (Quitman) of Waresboro. She has 3 grandchildren, Dana Lee Smith, Alicia Lee Johnson (James) all of Waresboro, and Dr. Brett Griffin of Los Angeles California. She also has 2 Great Granddaughters, Hannah Smith of Warner Robbins and Maggie Barnes of Statesboro, and a grandson, Kayan Griffin. Mrs. Davis has lived in Waresboro all of her life and has attended Waresboro First United Methodist Church all her life. In the Church, she has held many offices in it such as Sunday school teacher, lay speaker, secretary, treasurer, and trustee. She’s an avid card player, fisherwoman, bingo enthusiast, and loves to travel.

Inez Robinson Studvient Inez Robinson Studvient daughter of the late Robert James Robinson of Whitesville (Columbia County) North Carolina, and the late Leatha Brinkley Robinson of Telmore (Ware County) Georgia, was born January 22, 1919, and received her elementary education in Telmore, Ga. She then attended Center High School and graduated from eleventh grade as valedictorian of her cla...ss. Inez later attended Mrs. I.V.L. Alkinson’s Sunlight Beauty School and became a first-class cosmetologist (hairdresser). This Career was practiced until she married the love of her life. She lived in San Diego, California, Trenton, New Jersey, Newport, Rhode Island, and Jacksonville, Fla.as he went on several tours of duty. After nearly twenty-three years of service, they settled in Jacksonville, Fla. She became an LPN in Jacksonville and was employed in the nursing field for several years. She finally traveled to Waycross weekly to be her father’s nurse who was almost 103 years old, so that her sister could continue teaching school. Inez was his nurse until his demise in 1983. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she became a member during her high school years. Several years following the death of her husband she moved back to Waycross in 1990 and was restored to her former membership where she proudly served in several ministries as long as she was able. Inez is one of ten siblings, five brothers, and four sisters. Robert, Loretta, Moses, Richard, Edward, and Ferman are deceased. Evelyn, Ruthea, and Rosetta remain to rejoice with her. She has no natural children, but she is well-loved because she has been a mother figure to all the young in the family including sisters and brothers. Inez is humble, yet outspoken, preserving, yet generous, exact, yet fair, strong-willed, yet loving, daring, yet cautious. Her life is gentle and the elements so mixed in her that mature might stand up and say to all the world This is a Woman.
A centenarian is a person who has reached the age of 100 years. Because life expectancies worldwide are below 100 years, the term is invariably associated with longevity.
