According to Facebook today is America Recycles Day. So on that note I want to remind everyone that we've been working with Sensible Recycling for almost a year now and they've been amazing. If you have any old computers, laptops, phones, tablets, flat screen monitors/TVs, printers, or general electronics you need disposed of, you are welcome to bring them by so we can get it to them. (Sadly CRT monitors and tube TVs are dangerous and rarely processed, so we will have to tu...rn them away) Even though it's not in the high amounts circuitry used to have, it does still contain metals and chemicals that should be treated carefully and disposed of by professionals. So before you throw them in the garbage, please keep this in mind. For you security minded folks concerned about your data; all hard drives dropped off are destroyed, but they also offer certificates of destruction if desired. Although we are primarily working with appointments, you don't need to make one for a recycling drop off. Please just let us know when you are on the way so that the containers are prepared. We've always been very recycling oriented, especially when it comes to our industry, and want to help keep as much of this stuff out of the landfill as we can. Alright everyone. I was expecting to make this post weeks ago but our refurbs sold out so fast I didn't get a chance. So this time I made sure to get a lot more. We offer free data transfers from your old machine to our refurbs, a 30 day part replacement warranty, and majority of them will come with an SSD to make sure that they're up to speed for most daily needs. Currently we have:... Or feel free to come in and test any of them we have available.

Due to the recent increase in inquiries and requests for inexpensive laptops we are working on beefing up our refurbished laptop stock. Currently our stock is between $150 and $300, with a few more on the way. If you need something a bit more powerful we are working with a new supplier, so requests may now be a possibility, although it will take a little longer that what we have on hand. We also have a couple refurbished gaming destkops right now at $750 and $850. Along with ...trying to keep at least 1 new desktop on hand as well. All refurbished computers are put through a full series of physical tests with a fresh copy of Windows 10 and our standard software package. Although we are still accepting walk-ins while unoccupied, if you want to guarantee some time to look at what's in stock we can make an appointment for that as well.

NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS: This pandemic has taken a toll on both the company and us as owners, trying to keep things running through this crisis. With this taken into consideration, we have had to re-evaluate how our company can sustain itself to still be here to help all of you in the future. Our prices have stayed the same for as long as possible, but the influx in business and personal requirements due to the pandemic have shown us that even running near our capacity we can...not keep going as we are. Starting tomorrow (7-13-20) we will be implementing a new pricing structure. Any computers dropped off before today will still be charged our current labor prices. We will continue to be as reasonable as possible when calculating how much to charge, and these increases are purely necessary for us to stay open long term. We have done everything in our power to keep costs down, but circumstances won’t allow us to keep our current pricing. Our logic behind the free diagnostics is to urge customers to come in before problems get worse, and we stand behind that commitment. So our diagnostics will remain free until we are given a reason to change that. Although we understand that some may have medical reasons for not wearing masks, we also take our families’ health and safety seriously. So if you are unable to personally wear a mask, try to find someone who can to come on your behalf. NOTICE #2: Due to the escalating risk of the Coronavirus pandemic, we're changing how we operate in a significant way. These changes are meant to keep ourselves and our customers safe while we work through this hard time. All drop-offs and pick-ups will be by appointment only, one customer (group) at... a time, and not to exceed 15 minutes in-store. NOTICE: Due to our daily exposure to devices that are regularly handled by others, and the increased likelihood of illness in our industry, the technicians at DNA Computerworks have always used and suggested at least 50% isopropyl alcohol for daily cleaning of general surfaces, laptops, desktops, the VR masks/headset, and other devices that come through our shop. However, the CDC is now suggesting 70% and we will be adjusting accordingly. We have also begun to more actively c...lean any frequently touched surfaces between customers, especially those in the VR booth and front counter. Remember to dilute the isopropyl alcohol with *distilled water*, as both pure alcohol and distilled have low conductivity until contaminated. It is not suggested to spray liquids onto any devices directly, so remember to spray a rag or towel first then use it to clean the devices, preferably while they are powered off. This is of course just our normal routine between proper deep cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces and should not be treated as a replacement for de-greasers or regular sanitation products. Keep washing your hands and sanitizing surfaces as per usual.

ANOTHER WARNING: Apparently the NSA found a severe security breach in Windows 10. Microsoft has already been working on updates to patch it. So if you've been putting off Windows updates(which you shouldn't be), now is the time to get it up to date. Remember that updates, especially if you're behind, can take hours and it's a really bad idea to turn off any computer during these updates. Leaving it running for 3-5 hours is a lot less time than leaving it with... us for 2-3 days. If you are unsure about your current Windows update status, or if you aren't running Windows 10 yet, we can help you with a general optimization/update or even upgrade you to the newest Windows 10 if you have a valid copy of 7 or 8. With these recent security issues in mind, if you have considered getting away from Windows, remember that Mac isn't the only option. If you mainly use your computer for office work and internet usage, it's very possible that we could convert your current computer over to Linux instead. If you have any questions about this option, please let us know so we can see if it's a good fit for you.

WARNING: This week information was released about an exploit found in the Firefox browser. The update that was released for Firefox on Tuesday has already patched this exploit. For those of you who haven't updated yet, please do so now. If you are unsure how to do so, here are some simple instructions. Click on the 3 bar menu at the top right. If the update is primed and ready to install, there will be a small green arrow on it, and will give you the option to "Res...tart Firefox to apply update" at the top after clicking it. If this doesn't show up, click on Help near the bottom of the same menu, then click About Firefox at the bottom of the new menu. This will tell you what version you have and/or give you the option to update. If you have version 72.0.1 then you're ok. FIREFOX USERS : PLEASE READ Last night at midnight Firefox had an issue with a new add-on certification program. The intention of the program is to validate add-ons in an attempt to make them more secure, however there was a hiccup that disabled all add-ons as unverified or untrustworthy. Mozilla is currently working on a resolution, but in the mean time the add-ons will not work. This includes the ad-blockers we install. So be weary of what you're seeing showing up while bro...wsing. We would highly suggest updating to the newest version anyway, just to make sure you'll get the resolution as soon as possible, and be part of this new security minded option as there are thousands of malicious add-ons. When a fix is posted, we will update here on our page as well. If you need any assistance with this or if you have any questions regarding this situation, feel free to contact us. Currently Google Chrome is not having this issue, and should be safe to use as well (especially if we installed it, as the ad-blockers should still be active).

We had another fire hazard come in today. Remember, this company was opened to help and that isn't accomplished by belittling customers. If you or someone you know are considering doing a repair themselves, electricity isn't something to play with, and that we are here to assist you. Don't be afraid of asking questions, and our diagnostics are free. So before doing something that could be potentially hazardous, please bring it by for us to check it out. ... Power supply replacements aren't normally that expensive, and it's always cheaper than a house fire.
