Discover the jaws, claws, legs and wings that power nature’s machines in the special exhibit, Amazing Animals: Built to Survive, now on view through January 3, 2021. The Machine Inside: Biomechanics was developed by The Field Museum, Chicago, in partnership with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, with generous support provided by The Searle Funds at The Chicago Community Trust and ITW Foundation. Fun Fact! To protect the giraffe’s brain from sudden changes in blood pressure when it lowers its head to drink, there are valves to stop the backflow of blood.
