Atgaga Contra Dance

Sorry for the delay in announcing our March dance on Facebook. We've been exceedingly involved in monitoring covid-19 and our contra community's response to it. Today we made the decision to cancel our March dance and future dances for the time being. This was not an easy decision. After almost 7 years our dance was finally getting traction. But we need to be safe and to take care of one another. -- Heitzso

Our dance is on! Tonight! An incredible group of musicians are descending on Gainesville this evening! Musicians from Giant Robot, Great Bear, Toss the Possum, Wake Up Robin, Buddy System, Playing with Fyre will be here! Andrew & Noah VanNorstrand, Audrey Knuth, Rob Zisette, Robb Chapman! (Many more exclamation points warranted ... !!). 7:30 concert (7:30 lesson in the lobby this evening). Dance 8 to 11. First Baptist Church of Gainesville's Family Life Center.

Andrew VanNorstrand and Audrey Knuth are joining Noah VanNorstrand, Rob Zisette, and Robb Chapman this Saturday, the 11th, for our music! (!!!!!!!!!) Can I say "over the top"? YIKES!

Quick "heads up" re our upcoming contra dance here in Gainesville (GA) on January 11th. ... We had booked the Hobohemians to play that evening for us but they double booked that time slot and backed out. I reached out to my friends Rob Zisette and Robb Chapman to play for us and they're on! You know Rob Zisette from the bands Toss the Possum and Playing with Fyre. Robb Chapman got a music degree from Yale and has played in rock, jazz, and string quartets. His primary instrume...nt is keys; his secondary is cello. He'll be on keys for us with Rob Z. Rob is up at CDH now with Noah VanNorstrand (Buddy System, Great Bear, Wakeup Robbin, ...) and Noah has expressed an interest in playing with Rob and Robb for us on the 11th. (!!!) I should know in a day or two if Noah will make it. YIKES! We'll have a concert before the dance, from 7:30 to 8, to enjoy these musicians cutting loose. Can I say "I'M SO EXCITED ..."!

Quick reminder ... our Dec. dance is this evening, the 7th, from 8 to 11 with Happy Feet (George Paul and Kelsey Wells) and Stephanie Marie. There will be good dancing tonight! Stephanie, our caller, will host a contra community discussion from 6ish to 7ish. Everyone is welcome to come.

Just a reminder ... this Saturday, September 14, is our next contra dance at First Baptist Church's Family Life Center with Steamshovel and Dave Winston!

We had Beth Molaro lined up to call our October 12th dance with Potent Brew (George, Ben, Steve). But Beth picked up a new job and now works Saturdays, so she won't be able to call for us. We reached out to Liz Burkhart from Cincinnati to call for us and she's coming down! Right now she's calling in Philadelphia and Glen Echo and she runs the Cincinnati gender free contra dance! We're looking forward, Liz, to having you call for us!
