It's time for our annual Spring Open House! It'll be carnival fun in the parking lot and EVERYONE is invited! Free to attend! We'll have free carnival food, carnival games and prizes, along with a tour of the campus. See you on Saturday, April 24th from 10 am - 1 pm.

Karson Welty is a faithful member of our Academic Success Coaching team. Academic success coaches are here to help you navigate your college experience so that you may have a memorable and successful understanding of what it is like to manage academics and career paths. Karson has an Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology from Aiken Technical College and a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Mathematics from The University of South Carolina. During his time seeking his under...graduate degree, Karson conducted research on the applied group theory, studying crystallography and point-space groups. Currently, Karson is in graduate school studying Biological Mathematics. Karson originally worked in the medical field as a surgical technologist, but decided to go back to college to study mathematics. Students with an interest in pursuing a medical or math related field, or that have any questions related to these fields, should not hesitate to contact Karson. In addition to working in the hospital setting, he has tutored math and computer science at several universities. Karson has two main hobbies that are worlds apart! He plays Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and also enjoys farming. If you are interested in working in horticulture or agriculture, Karson strongly encourages you to come speak to him about opportunities in agricultural related fields. Dr. Laura Godfrey is the newest addition to our Academic Success Coach team! She holds a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from the University of Connecticut where she studied religion, medicine, and literature of fourteenth-century England. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Mississippi and Bachelors degrees in English and Spanish from Louisiana State University. Prior to arriving at GMC, Dr. Godfrey has worked as a writing center tutor and an instructor for ESL, college composition, and literature. When not at GMC, she enjoys weightlifting, CrossFit, cooking (but not baking!), and attempting to play fetch with her Husky/German Shepherd rescue dog. Vicci White is a faithful member of our Academic Success Coaching team. Academic success coaches are here to help you navigate your college experience so that you may have a memorable and successful understanding of what it is like to manage academics and career paths. Prior to joining the GMC staff as an Academic Success Coach, Vicci served as a Student Success Advisor at University of North Carolina Wilmington, a Career Manager at the University of Idaho, a Career Counselor... at Occidental College in California, and a Teacher/Coach in the Auburn School District in Washington State. She received her Master’s in Education in College Student Affairs from Azusa Pacific University in California, and her Bachelor’s degree in Education at Pacific Lutheran University in Washington State. When not at work, Vicci enjoys helping, time with family, her animals, puttering around the house, playing cards, bicycling and boating on the lake. When you talk to her, feel free to ask about living/teaching in Haiti, playing women’s contact football, bicycling across the U.S., non-professional work history or skydiving.
