Beautiful weekend at Gwin Oaks Swim & Tennis - we have a limited number of memberships available for the summer. Don't be left out - contact us for membership info. Perfect place for a staycation!!
Good News! The pool is OPEN! Looking forward to seeing you this weekend!
Pool is closed for this evening and needs service. Will update when reopening and should be in the morning or early afternoon! Thanks!
Taps in honor of those who served our country in the military and have passed away. (Clarification: all those who have served in the military and have passed away are honored today, not just those who died in the military.) Thank you Lee Lane for playing Taps for us.
To honor the passing of our U.S. veterans, bring an American flag and put it in the ground in front of the GOST sign. If you want, you can add the person’s name any way you want as long as its removable and doesn’t damage the lawn. I used paint stirrers and wrote the names of our family veterans who have died on them and stuck them in the ground in front of the flag. Flags available at dollar stores, craft stores, Wal-Mart. Let’s cover the front lawn with flags. Feel free to put up a flag in the lawn as your way to honor vets, even if you don’t know one personally. Freedom is not free and we owe them our freedom. Lee Lane will play Taps for us at 3:00 p.m. on Memorial Day to honor our fallen veterans.
GOST Club's pool is OPENING this Saturday, May 23rd, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.! Listen to Gena Ford, president of GOST, explain how it will work and please read the member e-mail that contains more details. We are so excited to see everyone while staying healthy!
Let's help out our local community and have fun doing it! Whether you're a family of one or 10, this a great way to get outside and do a social distancing photo session. Great Mother's Day gift, too! Feel free to share! -- Gena Ford
Good afternoon and in these trying times we at Gwin Oaks Swim and Tennis (GOST) hope everyone is doing well. We are excited to announce that we are planning to open the pool at our club on Saturday, May 16th, 2020 for the Swim At Your Own Risk (SAYOR) season. Currently, nearly half of our members, 32 families, have paid in full, including THREE NEW member families by the March 15th due date. However, a lot has developed in the last couple of weeks because of the COVID-19 viru...s which we, as the GOST Board, know it affects each and every GOST family. We realize you may be feeling anxious about your family’s future and are unsure right now whether you can afford your club membership this year. For any family in and around the GOST community, we are offering to help those who may need meals, errands run or any other assistance. If you or anyone you know needs assistance, please contact Leanne Gotvald through the GOST Member Facebook page or GOST general email: [email protected]. We want to help our local community any way we can. Thank you for your cooperation and loyalty to the GOST club community. WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER. Gena Ford, 2019-2020 GOST President (404) 734-0941
The Polar Bear Challenge was a success! Thanks to our Polar Bears for taking the challenge and thanks so much to all who donated!
Good evening Gwin Oaks neighbors. I hope you are all doing well and trying to adhere to the isolation regulations asked of us all from our government. I have a couple of points I would like to make you all aware of. 1. The Polar Bear Plunge will be held as planned this Saturday at 1 PM. Gwin oaks Swim and Tennis Club, 740 River Oak Loop. You can watch on Facebook Live. You can still give by contacting me by email. That address is [email protected]. There will also be a ...donation bin at the event if you just want to give a little extra to help us reach our maintenance goal of 600 dollars. We are currently over 500 dollars raised from those taking part in the plunge. Hope to see some of you there. By the way the virus is killed by chlorine. 2. We as a board voted unanimously to offer a new adventure because of the virus that has affected us all. We are calling it GOST Helping Our Neighbors. Anyone who is sick or just feels they should not venture out please let us know and we will do your grocery or pharmacy shopping for you. We will offer this to anyone in the community. Again contact me at [email protected] 3. Lastly, GOST will have official pool opening May 16th with regular opening Memorial Day. The pool is already in great shape thanks to the hard work of the pool maintenance company we have hired. If interested just let us know. GOST Board
Welcome Neighbors of our Swim and Tennis. Just wanted to say hello and let you know what was going on at our Community Pool. Below are a few notes from the GOST Board. 1. Membership dues will increase by 50 dollars on the 15th of this month. Please remember to pay your dues before the increase. You can pay online but the board prefers you drop your payment in the mail box by the Club House front door and then let one of us know it is there. Thanks to all those who have... already paid. 2. Do not forget the Polar Bear Plunge fast approaching. Mark your calendar's for March 21st. We have been maintaining the pool all winter so no worries about water conditions. With the warm weather it might not be so brutally cold. Always room for more folks willing to jump in and get sponsorships for the maintenance fund. 3. We are postponing our March board meeting so members can attend the Inurnment Service for Catrina Evans. Prayers go out to her family. 4. We are trying to set up a poker night. We held one last year and it was a huge success. We need at least 8 to 10 folks wanting to play to make it work out. We currently have 5 committed. This will be held sometime in April if we get enough folks wanting to play. There will be a 25 dollar per person buy in with the winnings being split between the GOST Maintenance Fund and the winner. We will be scheduling a Spring Work day in April or early May. Look forward to seeing everyone this year. Hope everyone had a safe and uneventful winter. GOST Board
It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the loss of one of our long-time members of our Gwin Oaks Swim & Tennis Club, Catrina Evans. She grew up being a part of the GOST community along with her parents, Celina-Mark J. Evans, and their youngest daughter, Diana Evans. Please see the information below about her funeral and inurnment services on Saturday and Sunday. The GOST board meeting originally planned for Sunday, March 15, will be postponed allowing board members to attend her service. Please be in prayer for the Evans family and let's share our love and support for them. There is a GoFundMe campaign to help the family pay for funeral expenses at: https://www.gofundme.com/f/funeral-and-medical-expenses-for. Gena Buskirk Ford, President of GOST.
