2021 Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt at Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation! This year due to COVID restrictions we are going to do things a little different for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. We will have a 2-month long Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt instead of a 1-day event. The hunts will be from March 3rd April 30th on Wednesdays Sunday from 10:00AM 4:00PM. Guests will arrive and pay admission (Ages 18 61 $8.00, 62+ $7.00, 6 17 $5.00 and under 6 are FREE) guests will be given a East...er Egg Scavenger Hunt Map & Instructions, you will follow the instructions using the map for clues to answer the secret saying and then received a prize bag filled with toy filled Easter Eggs & more prizes. Guests can receive an EXTRA PRIZE for taking a selfie at one of the clue locations! This event is for the ENTIRE FAMILY and all ages. Come out and enjoy the open spaces, have fun & tour the Plantation. ATTENTION: ALL ARTIST or beginner Artists!!!! The Friends of Hofwyl are presenting the Albert’s Annual Hofwyl Plein Air Affair April 17, 2021! Bring your Plein Air gear for lots to paint in this historic setting. No prizes, no judging, just good camaraderie and great fun. Inspiration abounds; including, 800 year old moss draped live oaks, scenic vistas across rice fields, a 150 year old plantation house, and barns, old tractors and out buildings, and people dressed in period ...costumes. Artists and art admirers abound. The artist registration fee is $25, includes admission, a catered lunch at noon which will be hand-delivered to the artist’s specific site on the plantation, a reception involving social distancing (Wet Paint Sale and Display) at 2:00 p.m., and participation in the Traveling Show. The Traveling Show/Exhibition will be as follows: May The Horton Gallery at the Hospital, Brunswick, GA June/July - McIntosh Art Association, Darien, GA August Golden Isles Welcome Center, St. Simons Island September Hofwyl-Broadfield Auditorium, Brunswick, GA for display and/or artist pickup Those who are not artists are also welcome. "Worth the Trip" 5 bubbles PAST REVIEW "My husband & I toured Hofwyl-Broadfield rice plantation between Darien and Brunswick , GA yesterday. We were staying in St. Marys, GA and the short jaunt up I-95 was worth the effort. This rice plantation is less ornate than most cotton and tobacco plantations of the South, reflecting the life style of the descendants who lived in the house until 1973. Ranger Andy provided an interesting and informative tour of the living quarters owned by generations of Brailsfords, Troups, and Dents. The tree covered grounds are spectacular and the numerous outbuildings are each described with identification markers. The museum houses artifacts and pictorial displays of both slave and owner lives of the rice farm. The hostesses at the information desk were cordial and helpful. Dame1214 Guys Mills, Pennsylvania,
