Making predictions is a tricky business at the best of times, but especially so after a year of upheaval. Even so, that didn’t stop people from trying their hand at reading the crystal ball. If anything, the uncertainty creates a stronger temptation for us to try to forecast the year ahead.

As we finish the final investment days in 2020, I’ve gone back and reviewed the very strange year it’s been. Back in early spring with the market down 30%, I never would have believed that we would have rebounded so quickly and seen new highs in August. If you told me the S&P 500 would gain 16% in 2020 and the Nasdaq would gain close to 50%, I would have likely laughed hysterically in your face. If we all learned one thing this year, it’s that the stock market rarely does wha...t you think it will, or what you think it should. Thank you to those of you who have taken the time to read my thoughts and for the many kind words and messages from so many thanking me for my guidance and direction during this often scary year. Remember to build and stick with an investment plan designed to mange risk while keeping your eyes on your long-term goals, and never let emotions, particularly fear and greed, drive your decisions. Here’s to a great 2021!
