"Sirius is a Maremma sheepdog, a breed that is usually solid white, but Sirius was born with spots. When he was two months old, Mercury, a blue-eyed miniature h...orse, was born on the farm. He has spots too, and an unusual color pattern with three white legs and one dark, one white ear and one dark ear. Mercury and Sirius became instant friends. They may be different but only see the ways they are alike," says Jorge Garcia-Bengochea of High Springs, Florida. rd.com/petpals

As some are already aware there has been an outbreak of kennel cough throughout metro Atlanta. I was told from a vet the outbreak has originated from a local outdoor dog park. We have had some dogs as well show symptoms when attending daycare and once we hear the cough we immediately call the owner and take the dog out of daycare. Kennel cough is airborne and can also be spread from sharing water bowls. I have stressed in the past that if you take your dog(s)s to dog park...s or have playdates with friends and or neighbors dogs, please do not bring your dog to the Bark & Lounge for at least 10 days following the last dog park visited or the last interaction your dog had with other dogs. Please look for any signs of a cough or a honking sound from your dog. Most times this will clear up on its own, but if your dog stops eating or becomes lethargic you should call your vet. What many vets fail to tell you is that the Bordatella vaccine (kennel cough) is not a 100% preventative, your dog can still contract it. That is why it so important that if you notice symptoms you do not bring your dog to the Bark & Lounge or have them around any other dogs. We clean and sanitize the facility several times a day and we do not allow any dogs in our facility that are not current on all the required vaccinations. The safety and wellbeing of your dog(s) is of the utmost importance to me and I want you to be aware of the potential that your pet may be exposed to kennel cough whether at a dog park, at any dog care facility and yes, the lobby of your vet as well. Thank you, Joann

I was informed that kennel cough has been identified at some local dog parks. If you take your dog to ANY dog park and also use our services please do NOT bring them to the Bark & Lounge for at least 2 weeks after you visit the dog park. We REQUIRE all dogs that enter our facility to be current on all vaccinations, however the Bordatella (kennel cough) vaccine is not 100% effective. There is still a possibility of your dog contracting it. If you notice a cough please keep your dog at home and if symptoms worsen contact your vet. Thank you!
