Kono Development Foundation (KDF) a 501c(3) Non-profit organization and a Non- Governmental Organisation registered in Sierra Leone launched its community empowerment microfinance program today in Mansunduwa Sandor, Kono District. This is a pilot program; with success the program will be expanded to give financial opportunities to mostly women in other parts of Kono District. Today we started with 10 small businessmen and women, each of the approved applicant received Le1,000...,000 (one million Leones). The terms are 26 weekly installment payments at 20% interest. 50% of the 20% interest will be returned the applicants if they make payments on time. The other 50% will be put back into the funds in order to add more participants or increase funding to existing participants.
