The Lakeside Foundation, which has distributed over $30,000 in grocery store gift cards to families in our community, has modified our annual Viking 5K Fundraiser. This year’s event will be virtual to protect everyone’s health, while still promoting healthy fun for a great cause. I’d like to encourage Lakeside feeder schools and other organizations (clubs, teams, neighborhoods, Youth groups, civic groups, businesses etc...) to create a team and encourage others to participate. Donate to Provide Food Support: Since the pandemic started in March, the Lakeside High School Foundation has distributed almost $30,000 in food support to hundreds of families in need from the Lakeside community. On Sunday and Tuesday of this Thanksgiving week the Foundation distributed 336 Kroger and Publix gift cards at Lakeside High and Pleasantdale Elementary School.... These distributions have exhausted the funds we’ve raised for this cause, but the great need remains for many families. I’m tired........I am fine with being tired, especially if it’s because I am on the Lakeside Foundation Board and we helped over 240 families today by helping t...hem purchase groceries for the Thanksgiving holiday. I am thankful to work with a group of community service oriented people who don’t want fame, titles or any recognition and this is what true service means. The LHS Foundation is full of members and supporters who get it! DONATE TODAY FOR LHS CLUSTER FAMILIES IN NEED Lakeside Cluster Families need your help. The Lakeside Foundation is working to raise funds to help our students and their families. The Shelter in Place order has put many in our community in a very difficult situation. As summer arrives, the need will only increase. ... The Lakeside Foundation is collecting tax-deductible financial donations that will be turned into grocery gift cards to help put food on the table for Lakeside Cluster families. We will be working with Lakeside counselors and the administration to reach families who have expressed a need. LAKESIDE FOUNDATION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY The Lakeside Foundation is seeking a volunteer to take over the role of Treasurer! No advanced financial degrees are required, just an ability to work a calculator or an Excel spreadsheet, the ability to count to five, and a desire to serve the Lakeside community. You’ll also have the joy of writing grant checks to worthy Lakeside student organizations, sports teams, and clubs! There would be an extended training period and a transit...ion with our current Treasurer. Contact us and we can talk details and salary!
