Congratulations to a fabulous person.

I had the great privilege of attending the wedding of one of my forever clients in Dana Point, California. He is a young guy and I worked with him to make his family complete with the adoption of his daughter; our successful termination of parental rights was appealed to the Ga Court of Appeals and the. the Ga Supreme Court. After the adoption was affirmed by both appellate courts, M was a single father of two great children. Last night, he married the love of his life; he me...t his bride during the long appellate process. She has quickly developed as an amazing mom and partner for the client. I was honored and humbled to be a guest at his wedding.His happily ever after reinforces the reasons and the rationale for why I do what I do for a living. I love family law and I love helping families through the exciting and the sometimes scary times of their lives. I filed my 15th Legal Aid adoption yesterday. Love the work and the cause.

I think we have all learned that I am not great at updating my status for the firm. All is still going well and I can't complain about business. I have gotten a ton of referrals from all of you and I endeavor to take care of every person you send to me. Thank you for your trust.

Happy Anniversary to me! It is hard to believe that one year ago today, I opened the doors to my own family law practice. It has been a fun, wonderful, scary, and amazing year. Thank you for all the support, love and especially for all the referrals! I owe everything to my supportive husband, Kenny Pillow and I am lucky to have him along for my journey. I have learned a lot about myself this year; for example, during my first seven years of practice, if you ever heard me say "I NEVER use my secretary," I officially retract that statement. I apparently used her all the time as I learned when I no longer had one. It is going to be a great day. Please continue to send any of your friends or family who need family law help in my direction.

Our law firm is so proud to be a sponsor for Poverty is Real. Richard introduced a band on Saturday night at the concert series as I had a prior commitment. I am also amazingly proud of my friend Spencer Smith who left his law practice to follow his dream and is now the Executive Director of Poverty is Real.

This afternoon, the Law Office of Melinda C. Pillow played hooky. Emma Rary and I dragged Richard Peay along for pedicures. Then we had Thai food for lunch and I sent everyone home before heading to watch my other kids (JCP and MGP) perform at the end of Circus Camp week! It was a great day. Back to hard work on Monday.

On Friday, I filed my 15th adoption case for Atlanta Legal Aid clients. I love handling adoptions. There is no great joy than helping make a family a legal entity. The court system does not make them a family - they did that themselves. I just help make them a legal family.

Today, spending some time at the office before heading to the GAWL Girl Scout Project. I spent a few hours coaching them yesterday and today my team of 7 scouts will conduct a mock trial of Romeo and Juliet. Lord Capulet is suing for Juliet's wrongful death. I have a great team and I love spending time with the girls.
