The simple weave pattern of the rope bed began with a knot holding the cord to one hole of the head rail. The cord was then threaded back and forth through the holes of the head rail and foot rails. At the last hole the cord changed direction and was threaded from side rail to side rail passing over the under the head to foot rail ropes.
