Safety Tips for Drivers - Halloween 2019 Mike the Mechanic wants nothing more than to keep our community safe on the roads! With zombies, witches and ghosts out and about, Halloween brings many things to make us frightened; our driving shouldn’t be one of them. During this spooky, eventful, and dark time of year, let’s make sure we stay proactive and safe, so we can focus on the fun tricks and yummy treats! Statistics show that on Halloween, accidents are more prone to happen...ing between the hours of 6pm and 9pm. Avoid, if possible, driving at dusk. Most trick or treaters will head out just after the sun goes down. Make sure all of your vehicle's exterior lights are working properly such as headlights, sidelights, reverse and brake lights. If you’re picking up or dropping off kids to parties, to run the block with friends, or even "trunk or treating", make sure to inform other drivers by using your hazard lights. Allow plenty of time to get to your destination, you don't want to rush into an accident. It’s a busy night; you'll probably encounter some slowdowns along the route. Turn down the radio and roll down your window so you can hear approaching children; they're short and not always easy to see from a driver's seat. We encourage you to stop by one of our four MTM locations and have us check out the exterior lights, brake system, or any haunted sounds coming from under the hood so that you and your family can have a fun filled Halloween this year!
