Good afternoon Newnan. If your children happen to tell you they do not have school tomorrow, it's true. Our children would never make this stuff up, right?! Coweta County Schools will be closed tomorrow, 10/29/2020 for in-person and distance learning due to the possibility of severe weather from Tropical Storm Zeta. You can stay updated on the weather through local media or the National Weather Service at Weather.gov. Stay safe and have a great evening everyone.

Good morning Newnan!! How about another driving post? Following Too Closely O.C.G.A. 40-6-49 says that The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed of such vehicles and the traffic upon and the condition of the highway. ... What does this mean? Basically, that no matter what the vehicle in front of you does (slams on brakes, drives slow, etc), YOU have the responsibility to leave enough space between the front of your vehicle, and the rear of their vehicle so as to be able to stop and avoid a collision . The faster you’re going (within the posted speed limit), the more space you need to leave to allow for reaction time, brake function, and any other factors that may come into play (road conditions , weather , etc). The law does not specify exact distances, however, a general rule of thumb is about 300ft for tractor trailers and other vehicles, and 500ft for emergency vehicles utilizing lights and sirens. If you strike the vehicle in front of you, you were most likely following too closely. Please drive safely as this storm moves in. Turn your headlights on, drive below the speed limit, stay off your phone , and pay attention to the road! Report any power outages to your electricity provider (they do not provide us with information on when it will come back on either). Sorry this doesn’t top the pig post, but hopefully it’s equally as informative! #StaySafeNewnan

Update: 2 of the pigs are in custody and will be sent to the pig rescue service in a neighboring county. Greetings Newnan!! You may have noticed some police activity this morning on East Broad Street... well that’s because we have located the missing pigs! ... The problem is, this is as close as they would let us get to them before fleeing into the woodline. These pigs are someone’s pets, but the owner seems to have moved away from the area (still investigating). Hogwash, I know. In the mean time, Ofc. Dalton (pictured), Ofc. Gonzalez, and Animal Control Officer White spent some time this morning trying to capture them, but they were unable to bring home the bacon . If you see them, and are able to catch them, please let us know!! You may contact us at 770-254-2355, option 0. These pigs are very hamsome. One is black (pictured), and the other is white (pinkish) with black spots. They’re very quick and nimble, as if they were in the Olympigs or something. Or maybe they do karate where they learned to pork chop. Either way, we can’t chase them anymore, or we’ll need a ham-bulance.
