Today is Armed Forces Day! We commemorate all six branches of the military, comprised of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, and the Coast Gua...rd. Armed Forces Day was first celebrated in 1950 to spread awareness of and support for the U.S. military. In 1962, it was established as a national holiday by President Kennedy. We honor the service of the 1.4 million active American military personnel and more than 18 million American Veterans. Thank you for your service! Read more at: https://bit.ly/3ht8nDF See more

I know this past year has been hard. Many of you have endured extended deployments, had increased stress levels, or felt isolated and overwhelmed. But let me be... clear. Mental health is absolutely critical to wellness, and shouldn’t be ignored and it shouldn’t be hidden. No matter your situation, there are shipmates ready to do whatever they can to help you find hope. Reach out, ask someone for help. Don’t let stigma stand in your way. To all of our leaders out there, no matter your rank, let me be clear. Talk to your people, listen to them, be available, and encourage them to seek help if they need it. If we don’t eliminate extremist behaviors from our Navy, then racism, injustice, indignity, and disrespect will grow and continue to keep us from reaching our p...otential - an inclusive, respectful, professional fighting force that answers the Nations call. As a Navy uniform and civilian, active and reserve - we cannot tolerate extremist behavior of any kind, and must engage in open and honest conversations with each other and take action. Leaders at all levels must lead by example. You must set the tone. You must model correct behavior 24/7/365 in person and online. Now is the time for us to come together and be guided by a strong moral compass. We must eliminate extremist behavior and its corrosive effects on our fighting force. And we must remember that we swear an oath to support and defend the Constitution above all else. https://www.navy.mil//cno-message-to-the-fleet-regarding-/

As a Navy we cannot tolerate discrimination of any kind. We must engage in open and honest conversations and take action. That is why we stood up Task Force One... Navy-to identify and remove racial barriers, improve inclusion efforts & eliminate obstacles to enter. We have fallen short in the past by excluding or limiting opportunity for people on the basis of race, sexual orientation, sexual identity, gender or creed. Our Navy must continue to remove barriers to service, & most importantly, be a shining example of a workforce centered on respect, inclusive of all. Simply put, all Sailors uniformed and civilian & applicants for accession to the Navy must be treated with dignity and respect. While there is still work to be done, I am confident that this report’s recommendations will help make our Navy better, and we will move forward together towards meaningful long-lasting change. Make no mistake, I am personally committed to this effort. https://www.navy.mil//task-force-one-navy-completes-repor/

During Saturday's #NavyReserve town hall, Vice Adm. Mustin laid out his priorities for the future of the U.S. Navy Reserve. We're overhauling the ways in which... we design, train, mobilize and resource our nation’s more than 100,000 citizen Sailors, Mustin said. This significant shift in mindset and effort requires deep structural and operational change. While such change is never easy, it is absolutely necessary and timely. See more

*The integration of Reserve Orders gives Reserve Sailors the same capability as active Sailors to execute a tailored orders checklist and view and print lean orders a truncated version of orders that makes it easier to present a hard copy of orders and execute official business while traveling. A recent integration of over 450,000 records is complete and Reserve Sailors can view past, current and future orders in a single location. *Similar to previously released NP2 capabilities, Sailor access is available 24/7 from any device through MyNavy Portal or by clicking here [https://prodhr.np2.navy.mil]. NP2 utilizes commercial-grade multi-factor authentication, eliminating the need to login with a common access card (CAC).

"For Navy Reserve sailors, the upgrade will integrate mobilization and demobilization, active-duty operational support and officer recall orders into NP2. Reservists will have the same ability as active-duty sailors to use a tailored checklist for moving preparations, and they can view and print an abbreviated orders format, called lean orders. This feature includes a command view function that allows a review of checklist completion status to determine sailor readiness and p...reparedness, according to the NAVADMIN. Equally important, sailors will be able to immediately get on the waitlist for government housing and childcare services at their new duty station. For now, only reservists with ADOS or officer recall PCS orders will be able to use the travel voucher wizard."

Your concerns have been heard. The Navy has now authorized a new and more recognizable rank tab for optional wear. Note: The camo version is still authorized f...or regular wear as is the new option. However, camo must be worn in tactical and training environments when camouflage protection is needed. NAVADMIN 292/20 SUBJ/NAVY UNIFORM POLICY UPDATE// RMKS/1. This NAVADMIN announces an update to the Navy uniform policy. Navy uniform policy updates directly support Sailor 2025 objectives to attract and retain the very best Sailors by finding greater flexibility in our policies and practices, including uniforms. Navy uniform policy updates are the result of Fleet feedback, command sponsored requests and direction from Navy leadership. This uniform policy update authorizes optional wear of the cold weather parka (CWP) rank insignia on Navy working uniform Type III (NWU Type III) components. Approval of this policy change is based on the feedback received from the Fleet via the rank insignia wear evaluation, question of the day video responses regarding insignia options and ongoing complaints regarding the limited visibility of the camouflage pattern NWU Type III rank insignia. 2. Alternate NWU Type III Rank Insignia. a. Effective immediately, the CWP black slip-on rank insignia is authorized for optional wear on the NWU Type III parka, black fleece liner and shirt for E-4 through O-10 personnel unless otherwise prescribed for tactical operations and training. When tactical operations or training requires complete camouflage wear, the NWU Type III camouflaged pattern rank insignia will be worn. (1) Description. The insignia consists of solid black fabric with color thread (gold, silver, scarlet) denoting the wearers rank. The back of the insignia is sewn together in the center to form a loop which facilitates placement on the NWU Type III rank tab. (2) Manner of wear. Slide the insignia right side up on the rank tab of the NWU Type III parka, black fleece liner and shirt rank tab. 3. Questions regarding this NAVADMIN should be addressed to Mr. Robert B. Carroll, Navy Uniform Matters and Emerging Issues Branch (OPNAV N13X), via e-mail at robert.b.carroll(at)navy.mil, CMDCM(SW/AW/IW/EXW) Marisol S.
